silliconevil
Hi Guys, I'm trying to build my first hackintosh using ##### and #####. Unfortunately at the moment i'm stuck at the very beginning: After I partitioned my HDD into 3 partitions of 500GB I insert ##### disk and get the following when trying to load: boot0: GPT boot0: test boot0: error Does anyone know what is wrong? If its the partitioning, can anyone tell me where to find a guide on how to format hdd correctly? It feels like if been searching for ages now. ps. I had an installation before this, using Empire EFI Boot CD, since ##### didn't work at the first try. But after troubles at the updating process i decided to go back to the beginning and install exactly following the guides i found. --- EDIT It seems that any Boot CD results in more or less the same error... Hmmm. Major Problem. --- EDIT II Well, just fond myself a littlebit in Hagars "Help, I#m a noob"... )) But be assured that I try to learn as much as i can while waiting for answers. /EDIT thx. System HALTED!!! http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html Did you make the changes to the Bios that are shown in the screenshots there? I think you should start over and follow the guide. To boot from the hard drive after the installation is over, Chameleon bootloader files have to be installed to the hard drive, either manually or using #####. Chameleon is not part of the Snow Leopard OS; it is installed in a separate step. Chameleon can be downloaded in its own package also. boot0 is one of the Chameleon files which is installed to the hard drive.
silliconevil
thx for your answer. of course i did all the changes in BIOS and than tried to follow the guide... how cann there be anything on the hdd from chameleon, when the hdd is fresh formated and partioned (using gparted on unix bootable CD)...!? Can there be some rudimentery rest in the EFI partion (guess thats disk0, but is it boot0 as well?) it although i formated and partitioned the hdd just before? I used Gparted on a unix based bootable cd as partition tool... btw: right now i got half of success by following another guide, quite similar to the #####/##### Guide from tonymacx86, which can be found here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-instal...ut-using-a-mac/ for me still only empire efi boot cd takes me to OSX install disk. Unfortunately after the complete installation process and after installing DSDT for my Motherboard it doesn't reboot into osx. After "Loading operating system...." I get a black screen, fans get crazy (is this whats called "Kernel panic"??) and the machine restarts. Again and again... A little more research to be done, I think... [edit] I gave it a second try and this time it worked: - Install via Empire EFI 1085 and OSX Retail disk (takes ages at some points of process) - launch mulitbeast (no changes yet) - update to 10.6.7 - run ##### with user dsdt for h55m usb3 - MANUALLY install kext for ATi HD68XX, run kext utillity and change grafic enabler in boot.plist to "No" - reboot (doesn't work completely, only get black sreen while fans are still running, have push power button...) [/edit] "how cann there be anything on the hdd from chameleon, when the hdd is fresh formated and partioned" There isn't. After the SL operating system installs is when you can install Chameleon to the hard drive, so that you can boot from the hard drive, otherwise you have to keep booting SL from the boot cd. Usually done at the same time as the ##### file installs that contribute to the hard drive such as /Extra. ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t255062.html Cloudane wrote: "The 6850 mostly works. So the next method which doesn't require editing the DSDT.aml seems easier and GraphicsEnabler is set to yes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.finderapps.com/6870.txt "List Works cards 6870: Install in 10.6.7 Snow Leopard #####, install: ATI 1.6.32.12 Drivers http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewforum.php?f=69/ Andy's ATI fix http://www.mediafire.com/?r52bv1otbovc9ci /Extra > com.apple.Boot.plist <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>AtiConfig</key> <string>Duckweed</string> Duckweed = change framebuffer if it does not work List framebuffer: Pithecia Bulrushes Cattail Hydrilla Duckweed Fanwort Elodea Kudzu Gibba Lotus Ipomoea Andy's Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r750 http://www.mediafire.com/?twdqa454new3ay6 " Replace it with the boot file in the root of your harddrive ---------------------------------------------------------------- Although this is for the 6870 it probably will work for the 6850. He also used the ATI 1.6.32.12 Drivers, a choice in #####, not the drivers you used. The "boot file" he mentions. Chameleon installs three files to the hard drive, boo0, boot1h, and the boot file in the root directory of SL, /boot. Andy's ATI fix is still an active download; this method seems the simpler. The 200mb hidden EFI partition starts without data. It can have some use later. The kexts chosen to go in the /Extra folder are important.
silliconevil
wow. this is a lot of stuff to read. First thing for me to say is, that i will go on with the empire efi boot disc. ##### is not running on my machine for any reason. Second I'm not afraid of modifying my dsdt. the link you posted seems to be a complete step-by-step guide, so I propably give it a try. Third "Andy's Ati fix" process, just to make sure I got that right, is like this: - run ##### and install Ati 1.6.32.12 drivers – install ATI Package.pkg - set Grafic enabler to "Yes" - include "<key>AtiConfig</key> <string>Duckweed</string>" - restart and done..!? That'll be very easy than... hoppla, I forgot to say thanks this time. therefore: thank you, that's very helpfull.
silliconevil
How can I replace the boot file in my hdds root directory? I'm don't really know how to do it via terminal, but what i tried to is to dlete the boot file (sudo command). But terminal asks for password, which i didn't set yet... [edit] Found a tool called "XRay", made the boot file visible and replaced it in Finder. Still interested in the terminal command, just to do sports [/edit]

But OSX doesn't want to give me any sound on the lineout...

If you're using VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications." --------------------------------------- I check for audio information two places. About This Mac --> More info... and the click on Audio (Built in); expand the arrow so that it points down. Is it ALC889 like mine? If it is or whatever it is, the Audio ID: (889) the audio ID: has to match your system to have the right driver. Some drivers that are not written well or are only close to right, will have limitations in their behavior. For instance, I think perhaps the voodoohda* driver will provide limited functionality and can also cause conflicts with other audio drivers and then sometimes ports will work in the back but not in the front. I'm not sure but perhaps with the right audio kext and AppleHDA 10.6.2 rollback, because you have 10.6.7 installed, these kexts may need to be (re-)installed. I don't know if this will fix it. The next place I check audio is under System Preferences -> second row down -> Sound I will attach a screenshot of mine. The thing to notice is if the sound effects like Frog are dark which means they work and I can hear a frog croak (speakers), because if the alert sounds are greyed, they don't work. My screenshot covers up two choices that are checked, Player user interface sound effects and: Play feedback when volume is changed I've found that if these are greyed out (your alert sounds) it means the wrong audio ID (driver) is being used. sudo cp boot / will copy boot to the root directory where you want it, if you issue the command from the folder where the boot file is located. There are quite a few times when you need to use sudo which requires that you know the admin password. I think you will need one. This uses up my meager audio knowledge. The board is Rev. 2, the board's manual and gigabyte website say it is ALC889. And my Audio Setup in System Profiler looks exactly like the one you've posted (btw: i've been workin on Macintosh computers for more than ten years and sometime ago Ifound out that having system profiler as a dock icon is quite helpfull... ). But in the system prefs, there's no output device device detected, unless i connect my USB Headset. If it is connected, all sound are avaiable, if not they're greyed out. I double-checked all the jacks, but i remember having some problems when i ran windows seven on this computer. Somehow the motherboard/win7 recognizes, if there is a plug in the jack or not, if not there is not sound in windows either... Does it work with your board? And another question: is USB3 working on yours? I don't have any device yet, but any USB2.0 HDD should work in the yellow ports on the back, don't they? So I compromised by saying something obscure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/101_Dalmatians_%281996_film%29 "Cruella de Vil is a fictional character and the primary villain"-> is an "evil" character in a story, but not seriously, it's a Walt Disney movie. The screenshot from last post was from System Preferences --> Sound. One thing I noticed is that there is a ? question mark with information about how to change settings. My headset works with my mobo both front and back jacks, but not both, speakers too, at the same time as it did in Windows. I think it is likely that you have the wrong audio driver installed for Audio ID: 889. In S/L/E, I have AppleHDA.kext installed, and also HDAEnabler889.kext installed. I have seen an AppleHDA889.kext(.zip) floating around, but I don't have that installed. I had a big conflict with the voodoohda.kext installed at the same time as the different 889 driver; I had to delete it. In this screenshot, I think the HDAEnabler889.kext came from an earlier install under Non-DSDT HDAEnabler. I think that with 10.6.7 all you need is RealTek ALC8xx--> ALC8xxHDA and AppleHDA Rollback checked. Rebuild cache and permissions. I remember once having to delete a bunch of extra kexts, like ALC882, ALC888 etc. It's a ##### 3.4 screenshot.
