m.muller
Hi all, I've just order this board and waiting for postman.. Asrock 775Dual-VSTA I would like to have feedback if any of you has install osx on this board. There is no info on wiki on this quite new board. I will change that soon . I've read about audio chipset that can be make working changing id in plist. I'm quite sure that network won't work since the chip is the same than other asrock board.VIA PHY VT6103. I will put a wifi dongle or a pci internal card. I've also read that install work better on ATA with both device hard drive and dvd on the same ctrl. I plan to use ATI radeon 9600 pro agp with cal driver. and pentium D805. Anyway your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mathias Muller
totokan
Err... I've been using it. So far, it's not caused any problems, but its SATA is not recognized by the installer.
m.muller
Err... I've been using it. So far, it's not caused any problems, Thanks, nice to hear that ! Do you manage to make network works? Mathias EDIT: seems that driver for network is given here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...4&hl=VT6103
totokan
Well, so far I've had no problems installing. the problem comes after that, upon boot. Seems the only way for me to boot is to remove all USB devices, else it gets locked up. Also, now it won't go to the desktop, just a blank, blue screen... This is the third time I've tried installing, getting the same problem...

I will try myself when i got ordered part. I will give feed back on thsi thread. If i do not succeed in will return the card i think. Do you have play with bios option. USB legacy things like that ? What does the -v boot option says ? Good luck
totokan
Well, I'm using 10.4.6 JaS' release. I have a PCI-E gfx card, an ASUS 7900GT-TOP. I messed around with USB legacy and such, disabling/enabling/automizing it doesn't matter, just removing them is the only way to continue with my boot. -v boots normally if USB is removed, so the problem isn't there. The USB thing is in my other thread that I started on page 2, if you want to know what happens with USB devices. Since this uses VIA chipset, I installed the VIA chipset driver under customize in installation.
m.muller
I've read this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=25404 Have you tried the boot safe mode ? adding -x after -v in the boot process ? Edit:Can you give me the url of the VIA driver plz?
totokan
err... the VIA driver is included in JaS' release. I should try safe mode... EDIT: ok, -v -x, boots, set up TCP/IP, goes to blank terminal screen. I can input stuff. Now what? Edit2: Ok, safe mode is useless. I can type stuff, and hit [enter] but it doesn't do anything! WTF? EDIT3: ok... it's been on since I posted this post, and just recently started going on about some 'mDNSResponder' over and over... I'll restart, and try to disable network... I can type stuff, and hit [enter] but it doesn't do anything! WTF? Sounds weird. I'am typing this post using my x86 box on my dell inspiron 8600 after rebooting and set the flag on boot seq. Using this mode in do not have all driver loaded but you should boot in graphics mode. It 's sounds like osx do not start completly. FYI the last things i saw in the log before graphics came is: Aug 23 18:20:27 muller-mathias-computer /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started

For the network i do not know. Good luck !! I wish i have already my board !! ;-) EDIT: How does it perform. in safe mode graphics operation like expose are damn slow but the rest should be fine. EDIT 2: Sound is Realtek ALC888 7.1channel audio CODEC with High Definition Audio LAN is VIA PHY VT6103 driver seems to be there http://www.pinxue.net/mac/viarhine.html
totokan
Audio - Realtek ALC888 7.1channel audio CODEC with High Definition Audio LAN - VIA PHY VT6103 - Speed: 10/100 Ethernet - Supports Wake-On-LAN From Asrock.com AUDIO is ALC888, not 882. Ok, it works in normal mode, w/o safe mode or -v Now, I just need to figure out this whole network conundrum. EDIT: ok, boot into windows, move file into file_share partiton. Ok then... this jargon is even more confusing then windows... what do I do with the kext, how do I logon as root?

m.muller
AUDIO is ALC888, not 882. Yes but in this thread : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...6&hl=ALC888 a user report that changing the device id as for moving to 880 to 883 work for 888. Hope it work
OSX86tester
Have you tried this board instead ??? Asrock 915GL I read somewhere its the developers MOBO. Sounds like nothing is wrong with that board. I would check the wiki pages if it is even on The HCl list. Just because its asrock doesnt mean its going to be a flawless install. Go here for details: http://www.ciao.co.uk/ASRock_P4Dual_915GL__Review_5575822 This board is no longer available anywhere unless you find one on an auction site such as ebay. If you find a new one for sale anywhere, you are in luck. I bought mine sometime in december of last year (2005) from www.icomputer.com but that was the last one in stock. Good luck finding one. Well do want said in the given thread but instead of 0x10ec0882 just put 0x10ec0888. in AppleAzaliaAudio.kext for IOPCIPrimaryMatch section you have to have a look in device manager> system devices for the pci id of your sound device. not sure what i will look like since i still waiting my mobo. have a look at this post in the previous thread. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=159197 hope it help
