[Tutorial] Use wireless USB stick by virtualization

I came up with this idea a few days ago and proceeded to see if I could get it to work. I have a WPN111 wifi adapter that would not work until now. I made a video tutorial that should be sufficient to understand how the whole setup works. For some reason the audio input wasn't exactly the best, so you'll have to crank your speakers up.

 

If this works for your wifi adapter(it should), please reply with the model number and maybe I'll add it to a wiki or something. At least compile a list here.

 

You'll need the following:

 

Parallels for Mac

THIS tutorial with added script file

A windows virtual machine (I use my bootcamp partition)

A wireless USB stick (*the key is getting your virtual machine to recognize it)

Patience

I'm about to work on finding a solution that won't use as many system resources as a full blown windows VM. Maybe a small linux distro like Untangle will do the trick or at least a slimmed down XP.
