Greggen Posted April 17, 2011 Share Posted April 17, 2011 Hi! Loving my hackintosh. It's stable as a rock and it's all thanks to this (and some other) communities! Thanks! Still have one little problem though. Sleep occasionally fails and the result is a corrupt BIOS. I have to unplug and remove the battery to reset and be able to start the computer again. I have tried every tweak I can possibly imagine would make a difference. I'm even considering looking for a new moderboard because the lack of reliable sleep I now have. My system is: P5QL-Pro 4GB 2x2GB XMS2 DDR2 Corsiar RAM Core 2 Quad 2.66Ghz (Q940 i believe) Radeon 5850 (had the same problem when I used a 260GTX though) Applying file from Mald0ns "Run Me". I use the following MODDED BIOS: http://www.mediafire.com/?rtzz5zd2v25 I also use this Extra folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?umaw7ua2axmd7b6 And I also use these two extensions in /System/Library/Extensions : http://www.mediafire.com/?vcb2t1juic4y0r8 And also don't forget to set the USB & PS2 jumpers to +5VSB. Set your sleep to S3 and enable all the power options on the tab in the BIOS. If it still DOESNT WORK then you have some incompatible hardware attached. Hope it helps! Haven't tried the modded BIOS, do you know what the differences are? Maybe I'm wrong but I though more or less everything a modded bios could provide you could also accomplish by DSDT-file? Going to try it out anyhow! As for the Extra and S/L/E folder they are pretty much a copy of mine. I use the FakeSMC without plugins and Kabyls Chameleon. And in S/L/E I have marionez modded AppleHDA instead of Voodoo. Don't think those differences will change anything though =( test it dsdt.Greggen.zip Thanks! Just applied it, going to validate and sleep-test soon =D EDIT: Didn't work =( First sleep was ok. Woke it up then put it to sleep again, led starts to flash and then stops, fans starts spinning again and nothing happens. It's just like it goes to sleep, gets interrupted and fails. Then I'll try it immediately! EDIT: Didn't work. For starters the only plugin for fakesmc that loads for me is intelthermal. The others doesn't seem to load from E/E? Tried both exchanging fakesmc and the dsdt aswell... same results. Also tried 32bit again (done that before) no difference. Could you please try putting your computer to sleep, wake it then immediately go to sleep again? That seems to instantly cause the problem for me. EDIT2: I give up! X_x Flashed the bios to smith@@'s version. Same problem. Applied your DSDT. Same problem. Now it feels like I can't get it to sleep at all. I remember when I first noticed this error, was like after a month of use of and putting the hack to sleep every 45mins idle. Then it got more and more frequent (at least it felt like it) and now is more or less useless. Guess I'll have to devote som time to make a clean install and check if it works better with 10.6.0 or something like that. Greggen Posted April 19, 2011 Author Share Posted April 19, 2011 Ok, update... it seems to be the keyboard, or rather something with the USB. I used an old white Apple KB when I started this thread. After removing this so I had absolutely nothing in my USB-ports sleep never failed. When't out to buy a Apple Alu KB instead (was planning to anyways, hehe) as I though it had to be the old one that was causing the problem. To my disappointment my problem was still there even with this new keyboard. Also tried a really old KB I found in the basement and I couldn't reproduce the problem with this. The thing the Apple KB's have in common is the USB-hub I guess if that could be an issue. And another strange thing is that the failed sleep seems to happen WAY more often if I put the computer to sleep using "alt + cmd + eject". I know it might seem strange but I'm dead serious. Should be just like pressing "Sleep" in the menu or the powerbutton, but it just isn't. I'll try ANYTHING in my DSDT or something else to fix this. Thanks!! EDIT: Maybe, just MAYBE, I solved it by applying MaLdOn's DSDT. The reason would be, I guess, that the code added in that only effected EHCI and my old keyboard used USB 1.0 (UHCI).
