rrtn Posted April 14, 2011 Share Posted April 14, 2011 first of all let me give a huge thanks Hazard and to m28ew for inspiring me to attempt installing Hazard 10.6.6i on my amd rig, so now i have a fully working osx 10.6.7! honestly, i was sure that it wasnt gonna work cause the distro itself says intel only. well i can confirm that it can work on amd and i was also surprised how little work it took to get it running smoothly...took longer to hunt down the working kexts than to set it all up. i installed this like 2 weeks ago but havent had the time to type out this post/thanks/guide. remember this install method worked for me on my system. chances are you dont have my exact system, im posting cause i surf osx86 forums looking for posts like this to check out someone elses hardware config and seeing what worked for them. so i will walk you through the process i did, keep in mind it could have been done more efficiently cause i didnt have the 10.6.7 updater til later. me comp specs: ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe AMD Athlon 64X2 4400+ Toledo 4GB Patriot DDR 400 (PC 3200) eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640Mb 320-bit GDDR3 500GB IDE WD Caviar Blue (OSx86) 150GB SATA2 WD VelociRaptor (Windows 7) 1TB SATA2 WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA2 WD Caviar Black 200GB SATA WD Caviar NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW IDE D-Link DWL-AG530 IEEE 802.11a/b/g PCI Tri-Mode ASPIRE X-Superalien ATXA6SW-BK/500W stable osx86 installs: Marklar Tiger 10.4.1 iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 iDeneb 1.6 10.5.8 Hazard 10.6.6i -> 10.6.7 combo update things you need/want: SL_10.6.6i_by_Hazard.iso Hackint0sh.SL-1067.combo.dmg Kext Wizard Lizard ShowAllFiles kernels/kexts: legacy_kernel-10.6.0 legacy_kernel-10.7.0 AppleATIATA-7 (sata-pata) AppleNForceATA (chipset) VoodooTSCSyncAMD.kext (amd dual core) 170-NVEnabler.kext.x86_64 (graphics) AC97Audio.pkg (audio) D-LinkDWL-G520.pkg (wifi) IO80211Family.kext (custom >pci168c,13< for D-Link DWL-AG530 after 10.6.7 update) (source for these things: from right here, the internet and some off older distros) heres a link to d/l all the above kernels, kexts & tools: http://www.mediafire.com/?jo5ocf5h3d1kl0o 1st SL_10.6.6i_by_Hazard.iso burned to disc. boot install dvd using these commands: -v -x -f cpus=1 busratio=20 arch=i386 i installed using these options below(remember these are specs for my hardware, check your hardware first) Chameleon_RC5 Kernel NVEnabler (temp) (no audio) nForceLan (no wifi) SuperNForceATA (temp) now cross your fingers and hope you get a full install. so at this point my lan works but my comp aint close to router so i install the kexts now to get online with wifi and grab the software updates. also, im working on downloading the Hazard 10.6.7 combo update(dont have a hotfile premium) so lets add the kernel and some kexts. legacy_kernel-10.6.0 AppleATIATA-7 (sata-pata) AppleNForceATA (chipset) VoodooTSCSyncAMD.kext (amd dual core) 170-NVEnabler.kext.x86_64 (graphics) AC97Audio.pkg (audio) D-LinkDWL-G520.pkg (wifi) at this point, the computer didnt reboot correctly it shut down but got stuck and i powered it off. on the reboot it took a long time to boot up and hung on a blue screen for a while. this went away after shutting down normally. now i ran apple software update and updated everything but the 10.6.7 update because sometimes these combo updaters dont always install so smoothly and since i have a nice working 10.6.6 i cloned the hard drive in case the 10.6.7 doesnt agree with my system now lets fire up the Hackint0sh.SL-1067.combo.dmg updater add the new kernel and wifi fix. legacy_kernel-10.7.0 IO80211Family.kext (custom) after the 10.6.7 updater i had to only fix my wifi so i added the new legacy kernel and update the IO80211Family.kext for my wifi adapter hopefully all went well, and have a functioning snow leopard i used lizard to install chameleon that enables the boot screen selection from the hard drive natively i have to admit im excited about having the latest snow leopard(10.6.7) installed replacing my leopard(10.5.8) and it was fairly easy to do i cant believe this is this is an "intel only" release!(maybe only cause the amd cpus show up as intel...?) oh well thanks again Hazard & m28ew Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rrtn Posted July 22, 2011 Author Share Posted July 22, 2011 @sobaked2921 - that only says integrated, not much help, you need to find what brand and type. find the info in windows or use a free tool like system information for windows. http://www.gtopala.com/ @ALL - i d/l and installed mac osx 10.6.8 update combo. update ran fine, reboot and the comp was running super slow. some quick research and fixed it the main issue is the Apple80211Monitor.bundle some ppl have only replaced that and the lag has gone, as for me its wasnt that simple. i had to replace Apple80211Monitor.bundle, IOPCIFamily.kext, AppleACPIPlatform.kext, IO80211Family.kext & IONetworkingFamily.kext. i found this nice thread that helped me http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=97567 (credits to Silencer) so i ran MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8.dmg with all other updates and added the new legacy kernel, reboot just fine but on start up it was painfully slow so i replaced the Apple80211Monitor.bundle, IOPCIFamily.kext & AppleACPIPlatform.kext (first time i only replaced Apple80211Monitor.bundle and got kernel panic) reboot in a lot less time but still laggy so i deleted IO80211Family.kext & IONetworkingFamily.kext before replacing with 10.6.7 back-up kext. reboot and all is well, a smooth running 10.6.8! now i cant wait for a legacy kernel that works on lion Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have an AMD processor myself (Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz AM3) but have never been able to install Leopard or Snow Leopard on my rig. I have a laptop with an intel processor which I had no problem installing both Leopard and Snow Leopard on. Every time I try to install SL on my desktop I get "Still Looking For Rood Device". Now I gather it's not seeing the DVDRW drive I'm trying to boot from because it's a SATA drive. Of course I'm no expert so I'm not sure that is the actual reason. Anyway as you all where able to install SL on AMD I was hopping you could guide me on the right direction and tell me if my assumption about my DVDRW SATA drive is correct or not. One more thing if I wanted to install SL from an 8GB memory stick, what format would it have to be in? because I tried copying the ISO from my DVD but as you all probably now my computer wouldn't boot of it. To install onto an AMD box you'll need Hazard 10.6.1/10.6.2 SSE2/3 AMD installer disc. I had this same motherboard and was able to update to 10.6.8, but it's difficult, and the onboard graphics don't support acceleration of Quartz Extreme & Core Image/Animation so you'd really want a PCIe graphics card that works in OS X. rrtn Posted April 22, 2012 Author Share Posted April 22, 2012 amd + lion is getting some new traction from bronzovka who made a almost working kernel for amd users so yay! i got Lion installed using iATKOS L2 installed to a different hard drive and not a partition. i had to use a custom kext(AppleNForceATA.imk64bit.kext) to get it to fully load and see the boot source. once in lion i enabled my other kexts for sound & wifi, the graphics were installed with latest nvidia mac drivers install. thanks to lunfai for the guide that helped with the flags and a big thanks to bronzovka for reviving the whole amd + lion scene @jaxparo - i did use the Hazard 10.6.6i installer to install on my amd machine, it works. like i just used iatkos l2 which is "intel only" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The stupid pirate bay wants me to install some appware to my computer just to get the torrent. It seems like they are the only ones that have it. Does anyone have another source to get it?
