I have been trying to boot the HAZARD 10.6.6i DVD on my Dell Latitude D630 for last few weeks with no success. I tried everything i came across patched the ISO with the patch SL_10.6.6i_IOATAFamily.ppf checked the MD5 everything was OK.

boot the DVD with these options:

arch=386 busratio=8 -f -v

-x -v CPU=1 busratio=2

with the normal boot process i get the following error:

using the -v option i get the the following error :

It seems like it's still complaining about the kernel extension ElliottForcelegacyRTC.kext

although the ISO was properly patched

My dell latitude D630

has a Core2 Duo 2.2 processor

3 Gb of RAM

and an NVidia Quadro NVS135M

here is pictures of the CPU-z

Here is how i solved the problem:

First download Acute Systems TransMac from the following link : http://laraaj.com/pics/Acute_Systems_TransMac_v9.1.rar

run it and choose "Options" from the Menu then check the "Show Hidden Files" option like in the picture below.

From the Menu again click "File" then click "Open Disk Image" and browse to where your HAZARD 10.6.6i DVD ISO image is stored

on your hard disk and open it.

from the ISO index of TransMac open the directory /System/Library/Extensions/ and search for the folder ElliottForcelegacyRTC.kext

right click on it then choose "Delete" like in the picture below.

transmacedit.jpg

Burn your ISO image and it will boot without any problems.

After you are done with the installation you will have a problem booting the new installed MACOSX because of the ElliottForcelegacyRTC.kext again so to solve this problem you will have to remove it at the last sptep of the installation

before your restart to that follow this steps:

after you are done installing your MACOSX and before you restart your computer from the "Utilities" Menu of the installation

choose "Terminal" like in the following picture :

then type the following commands :

mount

to find what directory is your newly installed MACOSX partition mounted to it should be a partition of the type HFS.

cd /Volumes/XXX/System/Library/Extensions/

where XXX is the name of the directory your newly installed MACOSX partition is mounted to.

rm -r ElliottForcelegacyRTC.kext

To Delete the ElliottForcelegacyRTC.kext extension from the installed MACOSX.

type exit in the terminal or choose "Quit" from the "Terminal" Menu.

then restart your computer.

  • 5 months later...

What is the -x and -f switches for? Why are you using a busratio of 8?

On to helping you out... Go to hazards website (you can find it by google) and look for the update section. They have an IOATAFamily and RTC Patch. Download it and patch your ISO. Then at the very end of the installation, when you get the screen -installation has succeeded- do not press continue. Follow the instructions posted earlier to delete the Kext file. Then click continue and let it reboot.

This worked on mine, but my video takes forever. I am about to try Chameleon and allow it to enable graphics. I've read that is supposed to help. This is done with the 10.6.6i Hazard release.

*****OK - DO NOT TRY THE GRAPHICS ENABLER******

I chose it as one of my Chameleon options and it went from slow to non-booting. If it did boot into the OS X system I couldn't see it as My Screen stayed black.
