BLEH.

I just got a Dell Latitude D830 in near mint condition at a pawn shop, of all places, yesterday for (get this) $150 + tax. Only problem as far as OSX goes is it's an Intel GMA X3100 based model, but it's loaded with everything else. I can't handle 1920x1200 on a 15.4" screen but this one is 1680x1050 which is my fave resolution for a screen that size.

Dammit... after all these years, nobody has yet figured out how to get Snow Leopard up and functional on these that I can tell. I spent hours doing research and grabbed 4 distros of 10.6 and still no go: each of them craps out when it gets to the first dialogue because the screen goes black and you can't see nothin'... ARGGHHHH

Been awhile since I've been around here in these parts but, I wouldn't mind getting 10.6 functional on this thing in a dual boot with Windows 7. Guess it's just not going to happen. ;)

/me goes off to check pricing on a replacement D830 mobo with an Nvidia GPU on it over at fleaBay...

Nice work, olykwon, wish I could test out your efforts but, alas, I'm still dead in the water for Snow Leopard on this thing.

Yah, it's a great solid laptop, I may end up selling it at some point to get something newer but, it's a rock of a machine hence me pouncing on it when I saw it for that price - they had the wrong price on it and I wouldn't let 'em get away with it so I got pretty lucky with this one.

The other aspect that I like about it: it's Broadcom through and through, the Broadcom Gigabit NIC and Broadcom Wi-Fi (BCM4311) so it'll work without issues with OSX.

Most current BIOS (A15) patched for SLIC 2.1 also but that's just Windows related, has no bearing on OSX.

I'll need to set something up later to do the DSDT creation, don't have a spare hard drive at the moment and I'm not interested in wiping it at the moment - don't have OSX on any Flash sticks either, all I have are DL DVDs I've made or the OSx86 discs of various kinds.

I'll drop an email later, thanks for the offer.

UPDATE: Thank (br0adband) I will now be supporting the X3100 models aswell as the Quadro NVS 140M models.

Is the linked download pack supporting the X3100? When I replaced my current setup with the DSDT in the download I got external display only. The laptop display comes up only after sleep/wake cycle. I'm currently using some other DSDT file I found somewhere, it works for display and many other functions but I'm still relying on kexts for many things. Would love to be able to switch to your DSDT. I've attached the DSDT I'm using now.

Thanks for the upload. This helped me tremendously. I had version OSX 10.6.2 on my D830 working fine until recently the auto update ran and put on the latest 10.6.7. This upload saved me. Thanks again. I have only noticed one major issue with this so far, the external vga port doesn't work for my dual monitor setup. The second minor issue is the side usb ports don't work. I say this is minor because the one in the back works, and i can use a USB hub. Any suggestions you may have to remedy this would be appreciated.

Thanks again

Thanks olykwon this is great, 2 things that don't work for me on my D830 Nvidia is sound and Ethernet, I haven't tried fixing it, but if you know what I should try first before I throw everything at to see what sticks would be great. I also use coolbook to watch the temp but that doesn't seem to work either. But other than that this is definitely the best SL build I've tried so far. Looking forward to your next release.
