Need to get wired ethernet working, or a replacement

Hi,

I currently have OSX installed and while almost everything is working, I can't get the wired ethernet to show in System Profiler much less get it working.

Sysinfo in Linux reports the card to be a Intel 82578DC Gigabit lan controller. I'm not 100% sure what the mobo is, but from what I can gather it's a Foxconn motherboard (system is an of the shelf Acer Aspire M5811-E1512).

I'm not sure if this matters or not, but I tried to install originally with the retail OSX 10.6 SL disc and Chameleon and couldn't get my PC to boot. Ended up downloading and using Hazard 10.6.6 SL and it worked minus sound and ethernet. I got the VooDoo kext and that got my onboard sound working but still nothing for ethernet.

I would like to either use the onboard and get it working perfect (preferred) or if someone can tell me the name of some PCI or PCI-E desktop gigabit cards that work out of box, i'll hunt one down.

any help is appreciated. Thanks.
