Can you connect on "N" Router ? Seems that 9280 & 9285 can only work on "G"

Sorry, I don't have an N router to test it. If it doesn't work on N in your case, it is possible that there might be an issue with the router as well. I checked iMac11,1 and iMac11,2 at Apple Store and I can confirm that all ioreg values are identical to mine. Theoretically speaking I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work and yet this issue begs for testing. Thank you for bringing that up.

I haven't seen a real mac with 9285 and it began only to work on 10.6.5.

So I am not really sure about how well it is working.

Which one do you have and what is exactly the problem you are going through?

I have the 9285.. When connecting to a "N" router with security or without security , it can detect Wifi network. But if you join, it allows you to enter the password but can't join. No IP and there is exclamation point on the wifi icon on top. Setting the router to "G" is ok though.

All ok (10.6.6 -> 10.6.7) but this is interesting. I checked my kernel.log and noticed this:

Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.mach, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.
Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.private, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.
Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.unsupported, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.
Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.iokit, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.
Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.libkern, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.
Refusing new kext com.apple.kpi.bsd, v10.7: already have loaded v10.6.

Then I went to /System/Library/Extensions/System.kext/Contents/Info.plist to find this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">

<key>OSBundleRequired</key>

<key>OSBundleAllowUserLoad</key>

</plist>

The timestamp on the system.kext directory is new. Anyone else getting this?

Installed ok here but caused a kernel panic to begin with just after installing. This isn't related to sleepenabler though as I didn't have it installed for 10.6.6.

First boot wouldn't work in normal or verbose mode, I had to boot into safe mode. second time I rebooted it would only work with verbose, but I've been having these kinds of problems for a while now. random kernel panics on boot, if I keep rebooting, it finally gets there.

It's hard to pin down the problem as it is completely random. I think it;s time for a reinstall but I don;t want to have to do that!

If its a random KP, remove AppleHDA if you're using VoodooHDA. This might help since you didnt give enough info of the issue.

sorry, yes no AppleHDA either. I changed my smbios.plist to one that identifies the computer as a mac pro (the way it used to be) with a more recent version of chameleon it was identifying as an imac 11,1 and was quite laggy at the best of times. now it's a mac pro 5,1 again it is running quite smoothly on 10.6.7 I will see how it goes with kernel panics after a few reboots. So far, so good!

I had a KP while it said "registering components" or something like that. I rebooted, then while booting it rebooted by itself (which seems normal).

Now everything seems to work just fine. I'm not sure what caused the KP. I've had a few (very few) KPs occurring from time to time now for no apparent reason. Strangely I never get any useful information through the console.

I'm running Chameleon RC5 with MaLd0n dsdt patcher (no sleepenabler needed)

It's just out in Software Update.

Thanks for the heads-up Skero666

All ok (10.6.6 -> 10.6.7) but this is interesting. I checked my kernel.log and noticed this:

Good spot.. Yes I see that also on my hack. Though on my iMac I don't. So what causes these messages on my hack I wonder?

Yep.

I've updated two installs. One using Combo update and one using Software Update.

Do you know that System.kext always has version same as kernel version?

OS	  Kernel
10.5.8  9.8.0
10.6.5  10.5.0
10.6.7  10.7.0
10.7.0  11.0.0

Do you know that System.kext always has version same as kernel version?

That's the first thing I checked on my system this morning after the update but I still read kernel version 10.6.0 ?

Now I know that I forgot to update my kernelcache for RevoBoot.. Doh!..

That'll teach me to run these updates early in the morning when I'm half asleep.

Thanks Slice.

I have the 9285.. When connecting to a "N" router with security or without security , it can detect Wifi network. But if you join, it allows you to enter the password but can't join. No IP and there is exclamation point on the wifi icon on top. Setting the router to "G" is ok though.

It comes as no surprise that there are problems with Atheros 9285. I believe it is not fully supported on OSX.

The 9280 does work with N band the 9285 does not but the update made mine stop working (9280) working on it now

Thank you the report. Mine is working well on 10.6.7. Please try to patch your wifi device and make sure that your sub system id belongs to Apple. DSDT fix for Atheros 9280.

Updated 10.6.7. AMD64 with Nawcom legacy_kernel 10.6.0. Boot with i386 -force64 crash 32 bit Apps. Back to 32 bit user space, works well. Waiting for the new kernel for AMD users. Thanks.

Solved: Patching libSystem.B.dylib for systenter issues. Now woks fine with i386 -force64, 64 bit user space.

Good spot.. Yes I see that also on my hack. Though on my iMac I don't. So what causes these messages on my hack I wonder?

Only the system MKext was refreshed (automatically after the update). Not the pre-linked kernel, and that is what we use with RevoBoot. That was why we got that message. A bit stupid that we have to trigger a refresh our selfs with:

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel

Everything is fine again when kextcache is done.

:)

Do you know that System.kext always has version same as kernel version?

No. Not at 4.36AM in the morning when I did the update. I do know that finder is one version ahead of everything... not this. Thanks.

I just thought to have messed something up since we're working on getting Lion to boot for everyone :)
