Holy S*** I just had complete success.

1. Use Lion DP4

2. Use the injector from this package. http://www.multiupload.com/PV9EYYPXW7.

3. Edit com.apple.boot.plist the way fayens suggested.

Transparency works perfectly. Picture in link below.

i've got my ati 5470 working. But when I try to reboot/shutdown system, I am getting kernel panic. Anyone else experienced this?

Yup I too have this problem.

Which Kernel are we suppose to use to get 5470 working ?

I have tried vanilla (10.6.3), one from ##### CD (10.7.4), ##### Legacy (can't remember the version) and 10.8.0.

But still cannot get the 5470 to do full QE/CI (Spotlight does not work, No ripple effect, Restart/Shutdown crashes, and DVD player crashes).

But I do get full native resolution on the LCD Screen (I used EDID trick).

Get Lion when it comes out in July, or use DP4 now.

Then Install the injector into S/L/E that was posted a few posts up.

Edit your com.apple.boot.plist the way fayens did, and make sure graphics enabler is yes.

You now have full graphics acceleration.

Nice! Worked also for my 5470M at 1366x768 in LVDS port on snow leopard. No acceleration though.

Is there any possibility of backporting the acceleration? In normal situations I wouldn't care and wait until Lion, but as the browser must have disabled the plugins if you lack QE/CI this is a feature that comes handy.

BTW, Thanks for your all your effort!

You can try getting the kexts from Lion and putting it in SL, but it will probably have the white menu bar and spotlight glitches.

Firefox 4 has a problem on SL: completely blank context menu, I'm not sure of it is related to white menu bar and spotlight glitches

Can you test it on Lion ?

I've tried with the ones in ##### 3.7 (works fine with accel on hdmi external monitor without injector) reinstalling again the posted injector in this thread but it has not worked.

As far as i know the kexts in ##### 3.7 are backported from lion right?

Best Regards!

Confirmed HD5470 Mobility got QE/CI enabled on Lion 11A494a when boot via Chameleon v2.0-RC5 r934. Screen will not go to sleep with the default boot option. If you want screen "sleep" to work you have to inject an invalid framebuffer name in the boot option or modify com.apple.boot.plist

Add to your file (the /Extra one):

<key>AtiConfig</key>

<string>non-exist-framebuff-name</string>

This kext package come from new MBP update, exept for AtiSupport.kext wich come from lion

It's very important to no install other AtiSupport.kext than the one from Lion and to install other kexts from MBP 2011 update, or your graphics never works

oops - correct is (with a few additional details added):

This kext package comes from the MBP 2011 1.6.30 Graphics Update, exept for AtiSupport.kext 7.0.52 wich comes from Lion.

It's very important to install the AtiSupport.kext from Lion and to install all other kexts from MBP 2011 update, or your graphics never works (fulle res, QE/CI).

I feel it's worth correcting.

Feel free to ask if you have questions.

Bugs

[EDIT]: I'm just wondering: ##### 3.4 (current as of 2011-08-30 is 3.8) contains updated ATI drivers v.1.6.32.12 from the Mac OS X 10.6.7 Update for early 2011 MacBook Pro (Sandy Bridge), which obviously is a newer version than the 1.6.30 drivers offered in Main_pack.zip. has anybody tried the 1.6.32.12 + a Lion AtiSupport.kext? Also, did 10.7.1 also update the AtiSupport.kext? If so, has anybody tried that? And what about the 10.7.2 beta update - any ATISupport.kext news from there?

Also: anybody tried ATI b4a1-1.6.34.15 BETA, posted there by LinearBurn on April 2011?

yes, with the grfx kexts fayens offers in his entry posting (Main_pack.zip) on a Lenovo y560 with the Mobility 5730. I did not use the injector but checco's specific bootloader for that card. At least on the Lenovo the kernel panics AFTER the line "It is now safe to turn off your Computer" (or similar), so no data will have gotten lost and no file system damage can occur. This must be a problem of the Snow Leo kernel not being able to completely unload the Lion ATISupport.kext, respectively some kext(s) the support kext loads and cannot unload because of the kernel/ kext OS version difference. Nothing at all to worry about, just a bit annoying.

hello,

i know this topic was very old, but i am interests in this tutorial.

First of all, my system is ASUS K42JE With 5470M 512MB, updated to 10.6.8 and bootloader is chameleon RC5Pre6 r59 < is this too old?

i did every thing in this tutorial and EDID Injection

but still not work for me and i believe the reson is this:

when i boot in verbose mode, it said "Not loading kext com.apple.kext.ATI5000Controller - not found and kextd not available in early boot"

the system boot without loading ATI5000Controller.kext, so the system cannot detect my 5470m

if i use 10.6.8 original ATI Kext include ATISupport and ATIFramebuffer, it work only on external port.

how do i fix ATI5000Controller not load with your kext or

what should i do when i am using original 10.6.8 ATI kext.

Thanks your tutorial
