Paranoid Marvin
I have been looking at the Daystar CPU upgrades for the Aluminium Powerbooks. At the mo, I have a 1.5ghz and it costs $350 to upgrade to 1.83ghz (although, I am in the UK) So, has anyone tried these upgrades, does anyone think it is worth it? I am stuck with my Powerbook till 2010! http://daystartechnology.com/Apple_Mac_Pro...Book_AL_PS.html
rick taylor
I've not tried this specific upgrade, but I would question how much more performance you would gain. 0.34 ghz doesn't seem like much of an increase. Maybe bumping up the memory would be a cheaper and more effective option? I've also heard you can over clock the aluminum models, not something I'd try personally, but if your brave enough, check out the page below, it's translated from french: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht.../language_tools

head
i would not recommend upgrading for such a high prize. why not save some money and wait for a low-priced macbook? why do you have to stick with your powerbook till 2010? specific programs?! just compare the x-bench-benchmarks on their website for 1,5 and 1,83 ghz processors, you will not find so much difference... its the bus-speed which should be higher...
