Snow Leopard Retail 10.6.3 DVD Nawcom MOD CD http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1349 10.6.6 Patched Legacy Kernel from Insanelymac forum http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=243273 Patience! Instructions: [*]Insert Nawcom MOD CD, Boot using the following boot flags. rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel [*]Follow on screen instructions but first you must format your USB or SATA drive as a GUID partition using the disk utility menu. [*]Install MacOSX 10.6.3, It should complete and then do a restart. [*]Install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 Combo Update, DO NOT RESTART YET! [*]Install the 10.6.6 patched kernel, then restart everything should be fine. What works, With the patched kernel you get all 4 cores, 8 threads. If you have 4GB you can boot 32 bit, If you have 4GB+ then boot only with 64 bit. Memory card reader works (If you want it to show in profiler use AndyV's kexts.) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=237068 Wireless works in 32bit only. http://web.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html DVDRW works. Trackpad and Keyboard works. IDT audio works with VoodooHDA already installed via MOD CD. ATI Mobility 5650 - Got it working using 10.7 kexts, I'm still working on this one. Wired Network works. All USB ports,Even the USB/eSATA port work. Webcam can work using AndyV kext. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=238847 I am running 32bit because the wireless driver only is made for 32 bit. atlee
im downloading everything now ill let you know how it works..ive tried many guides so if this one works ill be really happy!! My guide should work, there are many different flavours of boot discs, many work with work arounds using boot flags, some don't work and kernel crashes, My guide will work for you, if this bootcd does not work for you, there are quite a few you can try. Make sure after you use this bootcd, do not install there bootloader, install many like I have stated. I installed to an external USB and many bootloaders install to the wrong partition, so manually doing it you can get it done right.

aatkco
Thanks a lot for the Guide Successfully got it working in my HP Dv6-3151ee ( i5 not i7 ) I have those questions : 1. After updating to 10.6.7 using compo update why do we have to use patched kernel if i5 Processors are natively supported since 10.6.4 ??? 2. Why batter drains ?? ( Almost 1% per minute ) 3. Will Hackintosh affect Batter Life and it's time on windows ? and will it affect harware performance ? Thanks a lot bTw tonymacx86 developed a bootloader called Chimera ( branch of Chameleon ) which provide ATI 5650 support , I'll try it after updating to 10.6.7 and w'll let u know Please reply ASAP
Croixstar
Hi Atlee, I've been following your posts re the ATI 5650. I did my install using the mammoth method but have had no luck with getting anything on the screen apart from ugly patterns since updating to 10.6.7 Can you offer any advice on how to get the install working using the ATI kexts after a mammoth method install? Otherwise I'm ready to try your guide, but wondering if it will work with Mammoths modified tap tun kernel if I want to go from 10.6.3 straight to 10.6.7 as this tutorial is for 10.6.6 Any advice greatly appreciated Thanks
Infected24
Hi, i have a question regarding the Radeon Mobility 5650. Could you make it work with full QE/CI? I have been reading other threads, and it seems working in HDMI and VGA output with QE/CI, what about the laptop screen (LVDS connector)????? Thanks for the guide. Croixstar
I have made some progress with the DV6 and ATI 5650 graphics card. My main concern was getting the laptop screen working properly which I was close to giving up on after days of trying. This thread is what helped me get the graphics working with full QE/CI: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=250905 (no need to to a bios dump of your card, you can ignore that part) However I could not use this method with the Mammoth Method install as it would KP after installing 10.6.7 with the ATI kexts and modified boot script. I needed to use the Nawcom install method which Atlee used. Nawcom has a new kernel for 10.6.7 which I used along with his USB mod CD. I found them on his blog: http://blog.nawcom.com/ After installing the 10.6.7 combo update, along with the ATI kexts and Checco's boot script, the laptop would boot with an external monitor but the laptop screen remained backlit but black. Then once I installed SwitchResX and changed the resolution to 1366x768 the laptop screen turned on and is behaving nicely now booting on its own without an external monitor attached. Full QE/CI working. The system is now running pretty stable with no KP's however there are a few things that don't work... Currently not working. Priority issues: Sound is working but ignores the main volume control and stays at the same volume, even when muted. (Using voodoo kext I think) The two USB ports on the right hand side work perfectly, however the left USB and eSATA/USB port don't work Installed SleepEnabler kext but upon wakeup, screen remains blank. Webcam not working and doesn't show in system profiler Minor issues System profiler reports 1 CPU with 4 cores. Have heard that the i7's should be reported as having 8 cores on a mac? Changing screen brightness doesn't work. No idea if the compuer is speed-stepping or activating the burst feature of the i7 processor - Geekbench score was below 3000. Though the system is reported as an iMac.. Strange. I also tried booting with a patched DSDT for my machine but get a KP when I try this. It boots fine with the unpatched clean DSDT that I extracted before installing Snow Leopard, but doesn't seem to recognise any more hardware or perform any different to having no DSDT at all. If anyone can offer advice on the issues above it would be much appreciated! Cheers
