Nigh7Ang3l
I'm still using Tiger. Is there any tutorial how to update from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11?
KrazyKiwi
I still use Tiger. Even though Leopard is faster or so it seems... only Tiger gives me QE because i have an old ATI x600. I don't mind Tiger except that almost no applications support it anymore. I have to spend a while hunting for older versions of apps to use. Kimiko
I'm downloading Tiger 10.4.8 right now! I hope everything is going to be ok with this installation crossing fingers... @Nigh7Ang3l Yes, there is a tutorial right here, in this forum, but don't remember exactly where, but is very easy to do (something like change the version number inside a plist). Elgar Teo
I'm using Tiger just because my notebook doesn't support higher versions... I'm still using Tiger. Is there any tutorial how to update from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11? Are you using Jas? If yes then google "Jas 10.4.8 to 10.4.11"
river_reyes
i've been usig mac osx 86 10.4.8 for a year now on HP nx6110 laptop. Everything works, no issues. i have replaced the Celeron 1.5 mhz processor with a Pentium M 1.86 to get a better speed.
Nigh7Ang3l
i'm not running mac anymore on my laptop, my hardware is a little bit old, and even 10.4.x it's a bit laggy, applications hang ... but now i'm thinking about buying an old mac book (maybe a g4), just for the love of this great os. ktz
I am still using MacOS Tiger because of fast GUI. Leo etc work well on my hardware, but Logic8/Logic9 slow as hell in new MacOS's. It's not about video card. It's about software.
Tinet
Me, for instance. Tiger is a very good choice if you want to start the hackintosh adventure. I recomend the Chaos version Test5 ( from netkas) with a P35-DSx, X48-DSx Gigabyte mobo, and ATI HD 2600 (PRO or XT) as a video card. Good luck
NevadaDave
Well... I'm trying to run 10.4.6 on a Dell D620, but lack of sound (despite repeated attempts and a variety of recommended "fixes") and lack of network access (onboard Broadcom chipset refuses to be recognized, despite everything I've tried) make it, at most, a pretty paperweight. OTOH, Ubuntu 11 installed on the same laptop, no problem, very quick, and EVERYTHING WORKS! OS X may be a nice OS (and I have used my son's iMac a bit, and it's OK) but the hackintosh route is just too hardware sensitive, in my very limited experience. Perhaps later I'll try a later OS version (Leopard or Snow Leopard) and see what happens.
AnonMac
I have Tiger on a Dell Latitude X300. It seems faster on Tiger than on Leopard. No QE/CI anywhere though, and not much WiFi or ethernet. I want to install 10.4.11 on it though. I have 10.4.11 on an external HDD on my MacBook Pro, with everything working except multitouch (pretty good considering my MBP came with Leopard). gygabyte666
I always keep a Tiger install around, but I have it currently installed on at least 4-5 different machines. It remains my favorite OS X flavor even to this day. Besides, if it wasn't for Tiger, no hackintosh would exist after all. So yeah I use it quite regularly, especially for Disk Utility, which IMO works better than on the newer cats.
hawaii50
I still use Tiger every day. I have some custom software that runs great in Tiger but not on anything later.
