I have a problem.

I installed osx retail 10.6 with EFI Empire.

Install HD500Inject, ati kexts and modify my boot.plist

Updated to 10.6.6

If i load OSX with EFI Empire CD, it loads ok, ATI works perfectly, resolutions QE...

But, when i load without CD, i have this screen, everything loads ok, nothing KP

I have same boot (chameleon v2 rc3 pcefi_10.4), kexts in extra folder & kernel (mach_kernel.test7) than EFI Empire CD.

What can i do???

(Sorry for my english)

what in your folder extra/extensions and com.boot.plist

Do you think this will work with the 5470?

yes your device is 68f9,atix3000.kext support it

i currently have a VGA(currently using), a DVI, and Display Port? which one would work?

EDIT: i tried DVI, i get a black screen

i use only dvi and good work

I did it. All graphics functions with AMD x64 without Empire EFI Cd.

Bootloader: Chameleon v2 RC3 PCEFI 10.4 (same as CD)
Kernel: mach_kernel.test7

ATIinjector, ATY_Init & ATIFramebuffer instaled. Rom in \Extra.

On boot.plist nothing change. No AtiFB, no Graphics enabler ...

Works on Snow Leopard retail 10.6.6, resolutions, QE enabled....

I connect it with HDMI. But i havent sound with it.

Bye.

I follow the instruction and all steps passed.

However, there is no resolution selection and the Graphics/Display section in System Profiler shows that the graphic card cannot be recognized. (The display still works but no QE/CI)

My Card is HD5500 with device ID 0x68da1002.

Any help?

Thanks!

This is my guide to enable QE on my XFX ATI HD5450 with AMD.

1- Download & burn EmpireEFI 1085 AMD Download
2- Install 10.6 Snow Leopard Retail DVD with Empire EFI CD
3- Reboot with Empire EFI CD, copy boot file from Empire CD and copy mach_kernel.test7 on root. Create \Extra\ & copy com.apple.Boot.plist Create \Extra\Extensions and copy all kexts located on Empire EFI CD\Extra\Preboot.dmg, if you need other kexts copy it too.
4- Download All_in_one.zip. Install ATI HD Injector, copy rom to \extra and install kexts with kexthelper.
5- Reboot and test if OSX loads correctly. Now run ComboUpdate 10.6.6. Install 10.6.4 USB (with ##### or here)
6- Reboot and ATI may work correctly with QE, resolutions....

I have this to enable my ati card on AMD.

This is my com.apple.Boot.plist
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>Kernel</key>
	<string>mach_kernel.test7</string>
	<key>Timeout</key>
	<string>5</string>
	<key>GUI</key>
	<string>No</string>
	<key>Kernel Flags</key>
	<string>arch=i386 boot-uuid="PASTE YOUR HDD UUID" rd=*uuid</string>
	<key>Graphics Mode</key>
	<string>1024x768x32</string>
</dict>
</plist>

When I want to try different Ati Framebuffers, can I boot typing AtiFb=.... at boot screen (like we do with verbose mode -v) or must I edit everytime the com.apple.boot.plist with the new AtiFb parameter and type no parameter at boot screen?

To white_apple_x86, and the others in this thread:

Even those of us that have "been around the block" can (and should) check out the New Users Thread - we might well learn something!

I have despaired of *ever* getting my AMD HD5450 working with any sort of decent performance, let alone all my resolutions, proper display detection, and CI/QE.

Thanks to this thread, I have all the above.

ASUS P5G41-M LX2/GB
3 GB DDR2
200 GB Maxtor 6LS200 SATA HDD (Hack side)
500 GB WDAC5000AVVS Caviar Green SATA HDD (Windows 7 Ultimate x64)
VoodooHDA HDMI audio (Hack side)
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer (Windows side)
Visiontek AMD HD5450 512 MB PCIe graphics card
Acer H233H.bmid FP display

So far, except for the audio (HDMI) everything is working like it should.

I'm booting via #####, because I'm still fine-tuning the native HDD boot (apparently I still have some settings not quite right there).

Native boot works (still have proper display detection, resolutions, CI/QE), still lacking audio via HDMI (apparent VoodooHDA issue) and need to install/configure Chameleon preference pane and/or edit com.apple.Boot.plist to lock current settings into place.

Followup: Same kext (ATI5000Injector.kext) works in Lion as well (and the customized install partitions for Lion); drop into /S/L/E of your custom Lion install partition (either DP1 or DP2) along with FakeSMC.kext - you'll have proper resolution and display detection in Lion (and installing Lion) in addition to QE/CI. Because I have Snow and Lion on the same drive, I use an ##### USB stick. Even better, with the injector kext, you need nothing else (at least in Lion).

I'm down to a mere *four* foreign kexts in Lion -

ATI5000Injector (QE/CI, display detection, multiple resolution support)
lnx2mac Realtek RTL8xxx (wired Ethernet driver replacement/upgrade for RealTek-sourced Ethernet)
FakeSMC.kext (required for all Hacks)
VoodooHDA 2.56 (onboard Realtek/Intel AC97 alternative/upgrade for Snow/Lion)

And that be all.

I swapped in an older Audigy Classic (to replace my X-Fi XtremeGamer on the Windows side) when the VoodooHDA driver crapped up with 10.6.6 and added in the current kX Project OS X driver (1.30 to be specific). Now I do a complete shutdown and restart when switching between Hack and Windows (and swapping sound cards during the shutdown, as I don't use the HDMI for anything in Windows due to "black bar syndrome" AKA BBS), so I haven't lost anything.
