Jerry_MK2
Hi! I followed your guide step by step, but I still can't make my Asus EAH5450 working on Snow Leopard. At point #3 you wrote: 3.Install Atiframebuffer.kext and ATY_init.kext(ATI5000Controller don’t need) WHERE EXACTLY must I install Atiframebuffer.kext and ATY_init.kext? In root/EXTRA or in S/L/EXTENSIONS? Is your 1002_68f9.rom valid for my ASUS and other brands? Or must I extract my own rom (in windows 7)? Hope you can help me. Atiframebuffer.kext and ATY_init.kext : u can using kext helper to install these file OR just copy these file to S/L/extentions, and then run kext utility to apply. kext helper and kext utility you can download at kexts.com 1002_68f9.rom: is correct your graphic card now, no need to change file name, just copy to extra dear white paper: thanks for your guide, my computer is ok now, thanks a lot ! bas123
Hello, I have problems with booting after installing the graphics update. It boot to the grey apple screen with that rotating circle. I let it do for 30 minutes but it stays at that screen. I have also removed the atiradeonx3000.kext under windows but that didn't help. I have a dell inspiron with a core i5 and the ati radeon hd 5450. Under windows i use the drivers for the desktop version. So will it work under mac os x to? knoma
the 1002_68f9.rom sems not to work with my spahhire 5450. it makes no difference if i put the files in the extra folder. the profiler shows me always 5500 serie instead of the 5450 and not the right screen solution. also i cant change the solution. @bas: you must boot -v to see the log. maybe you have kernel-crash. it is important to deleteatixradeon3000.kext and the ati5000.kext otherwise you cant boot. my solution was to install a secend version of mac osx to delete the files. but the graphic card dont work properbly greeting from germany

rubenmr
Well i got some news. I do this: - install retail with empire efi - install chameleon rc5 & chocolate kernel & atiata kext - update to 10.6.6 & install usb kexts - install all your files (rom, hd500, kexts... update boot.plist) After this, i boot and i got a kernel panic: "Unable to find driver for this platform ACPI" Only can i load OSX with Empire EFI CD. If i boot with this, i can load it, and my ATI HD5450 works perfectly with QE/CI. What can i do??? Thx
maleorderbride
Anyone using this with Kabyl's boot and the AtiConfig key? (and maybe a ROM?) it seems unnecessary to use the modified framebuffer and ATI init anymore.

Jerry_MK2
Maybe I made one step forward, but still no acceleration for this card. After installing mac os x 10.6.4 update, my ASUS EAH5450 was working but without acceleration. Only 1 resolution, the one I inserted in com.apple.Boot.plist. No resolution change possible. After installing mac os x 10.6.6 update, I got black screen before entering the desktop, even using UseAtiROM option with 1002_68f9.rom in EXTRA folder. So, I replaced the ati drivers in S/L/E with the drivers downloaded from this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=224063 and now no more black screen. I can see my desktop. My card is working exactly like before 10.6.6 update. But acceleration and resolution change are still not working. I also added device id in Ati5000controller.kext, but still no acceleration and resolution change. What else must I do for having acceleration and resolution change? p.s. during boot in verbose mode (-v), I noticed that at some point it says: not loaded kext com.apple.Ati5000controller.kext - file not found................ but that file is present in S/L/E
bas123
I did it. My screen resolution is good and i can choose other resolutions. I think also that it has QE/CI because there are a lot more visual effects and front row works. I am so happy. I just followed literally the steps. To boot after the 10.6.6 update, you have to install usbrollback from ##### after you installed the update. Jerry_MK2
I followed again the guide step by step. After installed mac os x 10.6.6 update and (without rebooting) installed IOUSBRollback, after reboot I have black screen just before entering the desktop. I think it's not a kernel panic, because I can hear the hard disk continue loading. How can I fix the black screen problem?
