I installed retail snow leopard v.10.6.3 on my hp pavilion A6400f PC using tonymacs #####+##### method and updated to v.10.6.6. Everything seems to work fine except that imovie and logic wont work because they say that i need quartz extreme. This is the message that pops up when I open iMovie, "iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme." So how do I know if my graphics card is compatible with quartz extreme? If it is not compatible what graphics card should I get that is cheap (preferably under $100)?

Yeah you'll need to tell us what card you have and also what driver/injector you used, if any. In my experience I used a modified driver for my ATI that came with the iPC distro I used, but QE/CI refused to work with it no matter what. Turns out I had to use Apple's vanilla ATIX2000 driver instead (+ the natit kext from this forum) for it to work.

Sorry for leaving out details im new to all of this. Im not really shure how to check this stuff. I think I have an intel graphics card. I looked in macs system profiler to check. It's whatever came preinstalled on my desktop.

Take a look at System Profiler - Graphics/Displays and copy paste here.

Google HP Pavilion a6400f Specifications and got Intel GMA 3100 which is your graphic card.

Try to find a driver/injection/EFI whatever for that card.

It is hard to get this QE/CI work especially on 10.6.6. I suggest you make 10.6.3 work first.

My NVIDIA Geforce 6600 almost works well with 10.6.3 but not work with 10.6.6. I copied those kext from 10.6.3. to 10.6.5 and it works before but not work with 10.6.6. sigh

Chameleon RC5 may have built-in support but as soon as I change bootloader from BootThink to Chameleon it won't boot up. ;)

so, Good luck!

If you can't get that card work, see some wiki to check what graphic card are supported. such as :

Since you're on a desktop and your should have a open slot for a graphics card,

(from the hp specs for your system)Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 3100*Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed

 • Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 3100
 • Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards*

I would go with a any of the newer nvidia card.

I using a GeForce 9600 GT 512MB card on 10.6.5 with the lastest nvidia drivers and CUDA drivers without any problems with all the heavy lifting being done by the Chameleon boot loader.

Just turn on the Graphics Enabler in you com.apple.Boot.plist and let the lizard do a the dirty work.

My /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
