There's very little information on my specific board. I found a thread, but it wouldn't let me reply. I wanted to post my relative success in case anybody else was struggling with the same issues I was. Hardware: Asus M4A89GTD Pro with SB850 chipset AMD Phenom II Quad Core SATA DVD Drive BIOS: Storage Configuration > AHCI I went through iDeneb and Kalyway without any success. I found the iAtkos s3 v2 distro most succesful. I was at first mainly getting reboot loops and kernel panics trying to boot the DVD. I was using an IDE DVD Drive at that point and did some reading and figured it was probably the drive. After installing a new DVD Drive, I still had the same issue. I tried about 100 boot commands and this one finally worked: F8 at bootloader -f -x -v mach_970 busratio=20 cpus=1 the Voodoo kernel was apparantly causing some issues. After this, I got the dreaded "still waiting for root device." My solution: let it wait! I went to go look up some more stuff in Google and voila, a few seconds or so later, it found it. After that, I then got a weird error: "bug: launchctl.c:2325 . . . . systemShutdown false" I let that sit too and it eventually resolved itself and the DVD continued to load. Finally, I could get to the actual GUI to start the installation on my hard drive. This is still a work in progress. I anticipate a lot of kernel panics and troubleshooting still; however, I wanted to post my steps to get to the actual install screen because that seems to be 1/4 of the battle. I'll add on to this post as I work through it. All of my hardware is pretty much fresh out of the box so I hope some of this info can be of use to someone. I'm pretty new to all of this so I can't really say why any of this works, I just know it has up until this point. There's a ton of great information on this forum, it's just so scattered. After installation, you should be able to boot into OS fine using -s busratio=2 cpus=1 From there there are a few issues: 1. The onboard integrated graphics on this board is ATI Radeon HD 4290. This isn't supported at all so there's a very large resolution of 1024 x 768 or something. A Radeon HD 4800 something kext looks like its loaded in its place. Looks like I'm going to need a new PCI video card. Looking at a ATI Radeon HD 5770 or 5870. They both look like they are supported. 2. No network / Internet Easily fixed with kext utility. (I used this kext from another forum and it worked) 3. No audio I haven't tried to fix this yet but it looks like the VoodooHDA is going to work. I'm not too sure. How long are you waiting with that error? I think my boot might have said that same thing. I'd say give it at least 5-10 minutes. A LOT of those boot errors were solved just by waiting. I went through like 6-7 lines of the "root device" until it was found. Maybe also try the voodoo kernel instead of mach_970. -f -x -v voodoo busratio=20 cpus=1 But I don't even know if iAtkos has the voodoo kernel? I'm still a beginner here and still trying to a solid install going. shinglestrugglebottle Posted February 14, 2011 Author Share Posted February 14, 2011 Just wanted to add here that I can confirm a 100% successful install (that I'm aware of so far). I had to do another reinstall and made sure I installed the cardbus driver in iAtkos in order for the onboard firewire to work. After that, everything I need so far seems to be working. My graphics kext still says ATI Radeon HD 4890 but I'm not really concerned with that. I edited my boot plist to change my graphics resolution and busratio=20 and cpus=1. When I originally installed I also disabled the onboard firewire just to be safe. I remember having some boot issues and that helping at some point. My only question is. . . is there anything else I should take into consideration post-installation to speed things up? Honestly, it's a little laggy but I guess I can't really complain when I realize that running osx on AMD and ATI hardware should be impossible. I haven't found too much information on post-installation other than people reporting problems. TL;DR -iAtkos s3 v2 successfully works with an AMD Phenom II and an ASUS M4A89GTD Pro mobo. Jeremiah Gill Posted August 16, 2011 Share Posted August 16, 2011 Hi all I have successfully installed this distro on my computer, My specs are: AMD phenom II X4 955 asus m4a89gtd ati 5770 What doesn't work -audio -ethernet -graphics (5770) DETAILED INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS *cd/dvd drive was an ide so i think it does not matter *good quality dvd (i used verbatim) *good burning software (ultaiso) *burn at either 4x or below *set to ahci *set boot to dvd drive *a fat32 partition for mac put dvd in drive press f8 type "-f -x -v mach_970 busratio=20 cpus=1" without quotes you will see a bunch of text with the annoying chameleon in the background then the font will change and the last line will say "IOAPIC: Version 0x20 vectors 64:87" or something like that -just press enter and it will continue to boot when it stops at "Bug: Launchctl. c:2325...systemshutdown false" or something similar just let it wait -be patient this could take up to 30 minutes to load seeing as it only is using one core *if it gets stuck for more than 20 minutes just press enter and wait another 20 minutes *if you press enter and wait 20 mins and it still does not go just eject the disk and check for scratches and finger prints and just get a soft cloth and wipe from the centre to the outside and put it back in carefully and boot again *if it continues not to boot try to re-download and burn the iso again when the select language screen shows just press your language and the arow button wait AND BE PATIENT and it will give the finder bar and a window on the finder bar click utilities and click disk utility wait for it to open up and select the fat32 partition select erase and format it as a MAC OS X Extended (Journaled) partition label it one word without spaces -(ex. iAktos) exit disk utilities press the next button (- - - >) select the disk and press customize here are the things that you should select -bootloader -chameleon v2 rc4 -bootloader options -ethernet -legacy logo (this is unnecessary, i just like the legacy logo better than the chameleon one) -usb (select all the usb fixes) -patches -/extra directory -fakesmc -disabler -rtc (64bit if u have more than 2gbs of ram) -modified kernels -qoopz 10.3.0 -evo reboot -drivers -Main hardware -sata/ide -jmicron SATA.IDE -sound -apple hda 10.6.2 (this doen't actually make the sound work) -ntfs -3g (select all) -VGA -ATI -enablers -evo enabler (this didnt do anything either not even for my 5770) -network -wired -Realtek -RTL 8168 (this does not make the network work) and install, this should take a good 20-30 minutes take out the dvd and turn it back on after that is will go into a reboot loop unless you press f8 at the chameleon boot loader screen put the "-f -x -v mach_970 busrtio=20 cpus=1" command in and boot it again this will a hell of a long time *again press enter at the IOAPIC set up the hackintosh and turn it off now try this command "-v busratio=20 cpus=4" (you can sub 4 with however many cores you have) *this increases the speed and press enter at the IOAPIC if all goes well you can boot without the -v to get your lovely apple back but you sill have to press enter a seccond or two after the apple shows or it wont do anything I attached some pics to clear up the selections (note: ignore the ones selected in blue as this picture is off the internet and select the ones in red) and i tried to use [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 3.7.0 to install the missing or non-functional drivers and here is what i selected (THIS DID NOT WORK!!!) System Utilities -Rebuild Caches Drivers & Bootloaders -Kexts & enablers --Audio ---Realtek ALC8xx ----ALC8XXHDA --Graphics ---ATI 1.6.34.13 --Network ---Realtek Gigabit Ethernet 2.0.6 BUT what it gives me after a reboot is a white screen with thin black vertical lines, so can someone who is more familear with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] help me out. shinglestrugglebottle Posted September 15, 2011 Author Share Posted September 15, 2011 Hey man, I eventually gave up on my OSX mission when I fudged up my install trying to get my 5770 working as well. I've just recently picked up the project again. It looks like we're in the same boat so let's try and figure this out. Good tips that I missed initially. Also disabling CE1 or something in BIOS will speed things up greatly. The Radeon 5770 is now natively supported since 10.6.7? I think and it should be really easy to get running, but I unfortunately still haven't figured it out. I can get 10.6.3 running fine with the methods above using IATKOS. I figured that just updating to 10.6.8 would get my 5770 working OOB like so many others have reported but after updating, my screen turns crazy after booting -v. I am however able to boot in safe mode with the -x flag. I've tried the ATY_Init.kext GraphicsEnabled, not enabled. everything under the sun. but again, the 5770 supposedly runs natively now. Jeremiah Gill Posted September 21, 2011 Share Posted September 21, 2011 The realtek gigabit ethernet driver in the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] works, the audio driver in there kind of works (it shows the audio card now but no sound) and the ati driver (10.6.7 kexts) works (resolution can change) but all these only work with the -x flag for some reason. i am stumped and i have school now so i dont want my computer to die so i dont play around with it too much. and is it possible to edit the appleboot.plist (or something like that) so that we dont have to type in a start up command every boot and when you put it in safe mode, mac doesn't detect NTFS drives which is the file system my usb thumb drive uses and i also use wifi for internet and my wifi is not supported so not being able to detect any non-Hfs+ partitions sucks. good luck Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm currently in the middle of writing up a full HOW TO as a sort of guideline for myself so I remember everything I did. For some reason, Vervet wasn't working properly. Hoolock worked good but wouldn't display my other monitor on my DVI slot. I ended up using Baboon for full QE/CI with both DVI monitors.
