Hi guys,

as I tried to install my Mac OS X on my newly assembled PC according to This Topic I encountered some problems. First of all, the USB was not bootable or froze the booting process ( I just got a blinking "_" on my screen ). Maybe I just try to chose "Master Boot Record" instead of "GUID Partition Table" ( BTW, what is the difference, any according to the description given in diskuti, why chose "GUID Partition Table" to create a bootable partition ? ).

The other questing is, whether there are Kexts for the ASUS Sabertooth X58 Mainboard or similar ( Same Chipset ), and what else is important to look for when applying tweak41's Tutorial to my PC config:

Mainboard: ASUS Sabertooth X58
RAM: 6 GB G.Skill DDR3-1333 (3x2GB)
Graphics: GeForce GTX260
Processor: Intel Core i7-950

I hope thats enough info your you. I hope there is someone out there willing to help me turn my PC into a MAC, since I have a MBP and I don't want to use Windows on my PC and Mac on my MBP ...

I'm not a SL Hackintosh Guru but i have successfully installed SL on this board ...I have two configs with the same board ASUS sabertooth x58. dual boot with win 7 on separate disks

Config 1 : SBx58, I7 975x, 12GB ddr3, GTX280

Config 2: SBx58, I7 980x, 12GB ddr3, GTX470

My steps :

Bios settings : sata AHCI ,Marvel sata 6 and usb3 controller disabled , HDD on ich10R sata 1 and dvd on sata 2 by exemple. don't connect any other drive at this time. other thing leave defaults

I used P6x58D BootCD v2 available on this forum ( it's a very similar asus board) and the SL retail 10.6.3 DVD. other boot CD's like empire Efi , REbel EFI won't work due to "EHCI time out errors or "still waiting to root device"

boot with bootCD , then insert SL DVD , and perform the installation normally...After first reboot put the bootCD in DVD drive again and start on SL volume.

Install latest chameleon RC5 on SL volume

Install these 2 Kexts in Extra/Extensions : Nullcpupowermanagement, Fakesmc

Install Update SL 10.6.5 immediately then reboot without BootCD

Now install in Extra : OpenHaltrestart and SleepEnabler 10.6.5

For onboard sound use voodooHDA 2.6.2. generate and install now your DSDT in Extra, some patchs must be applied on it, you can use DSDT patcher or modify it manually. after that no more need of Nullcpupower kext. you can remove it...

For config 2 with GTX470, i had some problems when installing with graphics due to fermi support thus i swapped the card with GTX280 , after update to 10.6.5, installed tonymac's Fermi update then swap to GTX470 and it's working fine on dual samsung monitor. config 1 is on TV samsung 40 inch LED at 1920x1080.

What's works : Restart , shutdown, sleep and speedstep based on Ifabio dsdt modifications v3.3 , sound ALC892 partial (analog green out) with voodooHDA i don't use it (creative Xfi titanium on two configs) i don't use USB3 and marvel sata 6gb/s at this time. Network works natively after 10.6.5 update for me.

I have an ISO of 10.6.3 is it possible to split this across 2 dvds and still boot from the disk? Thanks,

Sound works with applehda 10.6.2 and alc8xxhda.kext + DSDT patch

About the same as you describe VoodooHDA working, line in & out & SPDIF seems to be all thats working, latest ##### has both the kexts.

 • 1 month later...

I've got a system up and running on this mainboard.

Sabertooth x58 with i7 950 processor.

2Gb DDR3 RAM (currently having BIOS troubles with the amount installed)

2x SSD 128Gb drives

NVidia 9800GT

1x Optiarch DVD-RW

ThermalTake 750w PSU

Everything is working well, once the OS is up. But the boot time and restart times are horrific.... about 10 minutes... I think it's a problem with the graphics card, but not sure which kext I would need to use to correct this...

If I use the -v I can see it sitting on NVEnabler::Port Failed during a startup (I'm assuming it's the same problem during a shutdown)

I used the Hazard 10.6.6 SL install via #####, and then ##### after, and selected what I thought was the correct options... (Sound and ethernet both work well), graphics are nice and tidy, just the OS load times are insane.....

If anyone has had this problem, can they share any insight to it please...

Cheers....
