Boot into single user mode, by pressing -s, at the prompt.

No Quotes either.

Then, "/sbin/fsck -fy"

Then "/sbin/mount -uw /"

Then "passwd (ENTER USERNAME HERE) No Parenthesis."

Enter your password.

Enter it again.

Type "reboot".

Make sure you type the commands EXACTLY - including the spaces.

I was going to test.it, BUT you are quite capable. I am sure that a search like this will sort it out http://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&biw=11...71d041fc8b68b36

well iv managed to totally forget my admin user name and password for my hackintosh

i dont have a USB to boot from or a CD, any thoughts? iv looked around but its hard to find good hackintosh support

Boot with -s flag

At the prompt type:

mount -uw / <enter>

rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone <enter>

reboot <enter>

After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
