theKid
So I'm upgrading my '06 Mac mini 1,1 which currently has a T2300 1.66GHz Dore Duo processor with a T5600 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo processor. Aside from the bump in power, I understand that the C2D chip will give me the ability to run 64-bit apps. I also understand that it will not run the 64-bit kernel by default. The lower end 2,2 model shipped with the same T5600 chip. The max RAM that this model can take (addressable RAM anyway) is 3GB according to wikipedia. My 1,1 model reportedly supports up to 2GB. By upgrading the processor, will my machine support up to 3GB too? Thanks in advance

LucasIsEpic
no. the supported ram is governed by the chipset/ logic board. the cpu will not change that. the speed bump should be noticeable though.
