schmoppa
The system usually will go to sleep after 5 minutes (per the energy saver setting), but in order to wake it I have to push the power button on the case. I would like it so that I could just move the mouse to wake it. Any ideas of how I could address this? I am running 10.6.4, set up via Kakewalk. EDIT: Focusing the topic after necroing it since sleep is something I want to fix separately from overclocking issues. Striking through (but not deleting) the part of the message that I am not interested in solving at the moment. Also, if I attempt to overclock at all, then after the system goes to sleep, hitting the power button will spin up fans but the screen will not come on. I assume it's just sort of locked up at that point, though not totally sure.
Stofchi
Does your computer wake up from the sleep and not the monitor or neither one wakes up with the movement of the mouse?

schmoppa
It's been a while, but I was hoping that someone that uses this motherboard could confirm or deny that waking from sleep via the mouse is possible. A solution to, or an approach to solving, my issue would be great as well. Thank you! And sorry for the necro.
schmoppa
Hi, is there a better place to post this type of motherboard-specific question? I get the feeling that maybe this isn't the best forum to do so. If there was motherboard section under Hardware Components and Drivers I would have posted this there... but there is not. Foxic
I use the same board, I wake the pc via the USB keyboard. My mouse is bluetooth and I don't think my dongle is kept powered during sleep (probably fixable in DSDT) so neither mouse or bluetooth keyboard will wake the PC, I haven't tried a USB mouse to be honest. Is your mouse wired, wireless or bluetooth? I think you'll need to be a little more specific about your setup to get any decent help.
schmoppa
Thanks for your response! I use a USB keyboard and a USB mouse with the system. I don't think it's a BIOS configuration setting issue... but I'm really not sure. Did wake from USB work out of the box, as it were, for you? What was your setup method? (Kakewalk, tonymacx86?) Foxic
Yea worked out of the box. My install is retail using nawcom boot disk and 10.6.3 update disk. I can give you my DSDT along with kexts if you like, our systems are very similar. If you want my DSDT + kexts to work there are a few things you need to do. Download Chameleon 2 RC5 bootloader (or hackinstaller, this is a script for our boards but all we want is a bootloader from it). Update your BIOS to F13J. In your bios set HPET to 64bit Set sleep to S3 (I'll send you a PDF later of all the correct BIOS settings for this board, at work ATM, I'll be home about 6pm (BST...wooop woop summer!!!) schmoppa
Thanks James! when I get home I'll have to image my OS partition *just in case*, but I am keen to get this working properly. One thing is, according to the Gigabyte site, I either need windows or a floppy drive to use one of the three methods to update the BIOS, but I have none of them. I wonder if Q-Flash will work with a USB memory drive. What method did you use to update the BIOS? And I saw your response to my other post... funny how the day came where out of frustration I sort of cross-posted... I finally get an answer
Foxic
I used Q-flash with a USB. NEVER EVER EVER USE WINDOWS TO FLASH YOUR BIOS!!!!!
schmoppa
Hi James, I may try this tomorrow. One (dumb) question: what do I do with the Chamelion 2 RC5 bootloader?
schmoppa
Update: The problem I had was I am using a Dell monitor, which has a built-in USB hub. When the computer is asleep, the monitor must go into some power-saving mode where USB ports are not powered, and therefore since my mouse was plugged into one of these ports, the mouse was inactive and could not wake the computer. Switching the mouse to a port on the tower made the difference... I can now wake the computer from sleep by moving the mouse.
