Snow Leopard don't recognise all the RAM

Hi,

Last week I was able to install a retail Snow Leopard on my desktop computer with Empire EFI, but I realised that the system info only shows half of my RAM (1Gb of 2Gb), and the system is not as smooth as it should be. BUT the system profiler, under memory, shows two slots with 1Gb each, and says that both modules are ok.

So... is Snow Leopard using 1Gb or 2Gb? I'm quite confused.

Both the BIOS and my other OS (Windows 7) show perfectly the 2Gb of RAM.

Relevant info about my system:

ASUS P5W-DW Deluxe

Intel Core 2 Duo

2Gb RAM (2 x 1Gb)

System profiler says:

Model Name: Mac

Model Identifier: Empire1,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.44 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 1 MB

Memory: 1 GB

And under the memory section:

Memory:

Memory Slots:

ECC: Disabled

BANK0/DIMM0:

Size: 1 GB

Type: SDRAM

Speed: 0 MHz

Status: OK

Manufacturer: Manufacturer0

Part Number: PartNum0

Serial Number: SerNum0

BANK1/DIMM1:

Size: Empty

Type: Empty

Speed: Empty

Status: Empty

Manufacturer: Empty

Part Number: Empty

Serial Number: Empty

BANK2/DIMM2:

Size: 1 GB

Type: SDRAM

Speed: 0 MHz

Status: OK

Manufacturer: Manufacturer2

Part Number: PartNum2

Serial Number: SerNum2

BANK3/DIMM3:

Size: Empty

Type: Empty

Speed: Empty

Status: Empty

Manufacturer: Empty

Part Number: Empty

Serial Number: Empty

As I said, the installation process was:

  • Load with Empire EFI
  • Install Snow Leopard retail (original)
  • That's it, loading everytime from Empire EFI

I haven't upgraded SL (that's another problem :) ), the only modification is adding the voodooHDA for the audio and the nvidia kext. All the other system is out of the box.

Any idea of why is not recognising the whole RAM?

Thanks!
