Funny that in save mode Touchpad and USB mouse does not work. I still can log into my Ubutu and can see all the files in SL drive. Because the PS2 kexts don't load in safe mode-but usb mouse & keyboard should work in safe mode. All those pictures and not one of a sheep? hannah187 Posted December 13, 2010 Author Share Posted December 13, 2010 The trouble kext was I think IO80211Family.kext So this what I have done in Single User Mode: sudo -s /sbin/fsck -fy (ran it 3 times) /sbin/mount -uw / rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext cd /System/Library rm -rf Extensions.mkext rm -rf Extensions.kextcache reboot sytem started to kill all the process but halts after as while... Then I power it down. Start SL with the following boot flags; -v -f busration-18 sytem starts to load and halts here; ACPI table not found: DSDT.aml No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value Using PCI-Root-UID value: 0 See the pic. Further investigation revealed (2nd pic) that last thing the computer was trying to load is ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - wait for service and then KP happened.. hannah187 Posted January 4, 2011 Author Share Posted January 4, 2011 After doing clean install (SL 10.6.3) I downloaded Mac OS X v10.6.5 Update (Combo) from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324 and installed this package. That fixed Wifi.. So my Airport is now working and I can surf the net. However still needs to fix the following: 1. Video 2. Audio 3. Jorge Libertad Posted April 25, 2011 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Hey guys, try this, I succeeded with 4720s, which is almost the same: Hi, I got a solution for you I figured out today for my probook 4720s core i5 2,67 Ghz. Finally it's working. Think it's almost the exact hardware (incl. Chipset, PCIe and so on) So this is how I did it: -Boot from iatkos S3 V2 with flags -v busratio=18 (think it's the same for you) -Select: --anval loader --whole USB section (to fix the problems) --apple PS2 - DO NOT SELECT ALSO THE VOODOO AS THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!! --SELECT the modified kernel qoopz 10.6.3 - this makes it --Select USB fix --Select your hardware kext drivers Wait for the install to complete. Restart. boot with the same flags as above And...voilla...it's working including the keyboard and the trackpad Now adjust the graphics - the system knows it's accelerated graphics but you have to change the res to 1600x900 in my case so: Go to terminal and navigate to: /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration/ All you have to do is edit the com.apple.Boot.plist and add two lines there type: sudo su your password cd / cd /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ nano com.apple.Boot.plist ------------ editor opens the configuration file, add these two lines (up your config): <key>Graphics Modes</key> <string>1600x900x32</string> ------------ ctrl+x y enter Reboot And it should boot back in native accelerated res. Currently I'm working on the USBs - this does not work properly...after you retsart there should be a conflict or sth, so I will be soon back Hope this helps you sort it out! Corssed fingers!! :-) Cheers Hey! Got hack for USB functionality! Just remove appleHPET.kext from: /System/Library/Extensions/ And IT WORKS! All 4 of them! (one eSATA) So only the wifi remains. I successfully installed iATKOS S3 v2,first using Nawcom, then the default Chameleon, with the following working: --Native resolution 1366x768 using boot flag Graphics Mode --Wireless Mouse and Keyboard [uSB] --Sound [i cant change the volume from the system though. Have to change at the app level] --Wired Ethernet --USB Drives, etc. Things not working: --Video playback --Wifi [Though am downloading the 10.6.5 Combo update, hope it helps] --And i think the gfx card, cause animations tend to flicker or be less smooth Let me know if any updates come up regarding this laptop. The update straightaway breaks the following: --Bluetooth [it doesnt show up at all] --USB [Keyboard and mice, etc] The above update fixes the following: --Wifi [Wireless now works great!] --Video [YAY!] So to prevent the bluetooth and usb from breaking, i applied these steps: --Before installing the update, goto /System/Library/Extensions folder using Finder, and copy the following kexts to desktop: =VooDooHDA =IOBluetoothFamily =IOBluetoothHIDDriver =IOUSBFamily =IOUSBMassStorageClass =AppleUSBMultitouch =AppleUSBTopCase I don't know whether all are required 100%, but can tell you that it prevents from breaking the above things. So, for a quickie update, what works and what doesn't currently: Works: --USB --Bluetooth --Wifi --Native Resolution [1366x768] --Video playback in Qt, and probably VLC, haven't tested it yet, but Perian & QT work great. --Sound Doesn't Work: --Maybe Graphics Acceleration? Noticed flicker in animations sometimes. Hey, I guess the SL is now almost fully working! Thanks for the messages and posting your experiences. I haven't been able to make the QE/CI work, but the resolution changing works! ;) Will post a guide when am done with working through the final pieces of the puzzle. hannah187 Posted July 17, 2011 Author Share Posted July 17, 2011 A kind man from Greece (Mike85b) helped to solve my screen resolution problem: And this is what I had done: Download this file and unzip. http://www.mediafire.com/?ms2xpjdvbzrxx6p You will find 3 kexts and 1 boot file Install all 3 kexts and replace boot file in your SL root and write in terminal this command: sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions write your password and wait when finished restart and hopefully enjoy thanks I still do not have my USBs and Sound... any help will be appreciate.. joelbf08 Posted August 18, 2011 Share Posted August 18, 2011 Hey Hannah and others, I have the same laptop with a lil diff specs . . . core i3 M370 2.40Ghz success with iATKOS v2 s3(bootflag busratio=17, post install boot with new [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] cd) but after when i upgrade to either 10.6.4 or 10.6.6 combo, no KP as such but system freezes after all drivers load.(im guessing sum drivers are not supported or sumthing like dat) tried -v -x cpus=1 and busratio=17 ... nothing works. please advise how to upgrade. how did u update hannah ? any help will be greatly appreciated.
