Hi all..this is my first post and let me assure that I did use the search function to find answer before I post this message:

Machine: HP ProBook 4520s, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD

Processor: Intel i5 M 460 2.53Ghz

Image Used: iATKOS S3 v2 (MD5 hash checked)

Installation successful with this boot flag: -v arch=i386 busratio=17

However when restarting the laptop it goes upto silver screen with apple logo on it and keep restarting. And yes I tried F8 and used boot flag -v arch=i386 busratio=17, it does not boot up.

While installing I saved the Installer Log which I am attaching.

I am also attaching output with lspci -nn command to show all the peripherals

Please help..

Kind regards and many thanks

Hannah

So during the verbose mode, what are the error shown on the screen?

I used to have this problem too using iAtkos s3, what i do is boot up using Nawcom CD 0.3. It will help you boot up into MacOS, and then install Chameleon Bootloader RC4 from the iAtkos DVD. that's what i'm using and after restarting, i can boot up without Nawcom CD anymore.

You should try it, and report here if its working or not. :D

Many thanks ..I now burnt the image of Nawcom CD 0.3 and can start my Laptop with this CD. But how do you install Chameleon Bootloader RC4 from the iAtkos DVD.

This is what I have done..

Once my Laptop boots up with Nawcom MOD CD, I take this CD out and put in my iATKOS S3 v2 (remember I already have a syccessful installation in my laptop) and press F5. I can then see my iATKOS S3 v2. Tried to boot with this DVD (with out any boot flag) my laptop keep restarting in a loop ( I already knew this). So the question is how to install Chameleon Bootloader RC4 from the iAtkos DVD with the help of Nawcom MOD CD? Thanks in advance.

You don't need the iAtkos DVD to load if you already installed SL dear.

Boot up using Nawcom, and the nawcom screen choose your SL Hard drive and type any startup you wan -v -F etc etc. When you already inside the SL, insert your iAtkos DVD. And then open it up and browse through it. You will find the Chameleon inside it.

Or try go to the system/library/Tools/... There should be selection of tools there. From my rig, I found iAtkos tools, etc2 and also Chameleon in there. So after you install Chameleon, there's no need to boot with Nawcom anymore.

Just try different kind of flag if you got problem. Maybe arch=i386 or busratio.

thanks guys again.. Please see the pics as attached. Pic are named according to the boot flag used while booting up.

First of all I am well aware of the Busratio site

http://3rr0rists.com/macintosh/busratio-fo...processors.html and know very well that my processor is not included there. Hence I tried various busratios while installing SL from iATKOS S3 v2 and only this bootflag installs SL successfully...

-v arch=i386 busratio=17

Hi All..I have reinstalled SL again but this time I took pics step by step. Still same issues but thought these pics might help you guys to assist me better.

Basically I installed SL with this Bootflag:

-v arch=i386 busratio=17

And when the Installation finished I rebooted my laptop with nawcom modcd.

Then selected my SL Harddrive and bootup with this Bootflag:

-v -f arch=i386 busratio=17

Following screen messages are attached as well. Pics are marked from 1-13 (as it happened).

Many thanks

Still not solved..but I have done couple more things now..I have fresh installed Ubuntu 10.10 now and GRUB bootloader is installed the in Ubuntu Installation directory e.g. /dev/sd5/ (and not at the root).

Now when I boot up, my laptop first boot up with Chameleon Bootloader RC4..then I press anykey and it goes to the next screen to show different OS in the Laptop..I choose Linux and Grub boot loader comes up and then I can choose different OS to boot up from.

Ubuntu and win7 is working however Mac OS (SL) not working. I tried both 32bit and 64bit options for SL (in the GRUB bootloader). None works. Pics are numbered as my computer is booting up.

Am not sure if my signature is visible. Here it is anyway:

I am having almost the exact same issue. It appears to have more to do with the bootloader than anything else. I noticed you are using the default choice on bootloader. When I use the PC EFI choice my laptop will boot further but you seem to be at that point already.

When i was getting those KP screens I think it had to do with the video settings. I had to add in the ATI Enabler (the EVO one I think) to get past those KP screens but now it looks like its going to boot fine and then the screen goes black and just sits there... no KP and the computer is still responsive but nothing happens. My laptop has an odd card though (HD5145).

I'm hoping to get more time to play around but i've already wasted a ton of time on the issue. I also have the issue of when I added in the OSX entry to my Windows bootloader it installs some version of chameleon and doesnt use my PC EFI one.

Its incredibly frustrating as I'm so close but just cant quite get it to go. If I find anything I will post back here

Oh wow! That nawcom bootdisk is awesome! Not only does it make my laptop boot into OSX it actually shows my CPU being detected when it boots!

I'm going to have to see how I can incorporate it as my default bootloader (without using the CD).

I'm going to try booting with the nawcom disk and then install using a retail version of SL

I installed SL by booting off the nawcom disk and then installing with the retail SL DVD. When booting with the SL bootloader its a no go (Kernel Panic during boot). But if I boot the Nawcom disk then select my OSX install it boots up (still have to specify busratio=18). Unfortunately it doesnt detect my wireless or my video card so I'm stuck in 1024x768. I also had to make sure and uncheck the graphics enabler (with it checked off I got KP regardless of how I booted).

It did find my wired LAN connection so I'm hoping I can find some drivers for my card on the internet or a way to enable it (and my wireless

EDIT: I am editing this from OSX on my laptop. From what I can see the only remaining issues I have are:

1) Bootloader that will boot my OSX without needing to boot off the Nawcom disk

2) Graphics Drivers. Have a Radeon HD5145 Mobility and cant find any drivers or anything

3) Wireless Drivers. My laptop has a broadcom chipset (the Nawcom disk finds it and says its ok but it isnt here when I boot the system)

4) Fix my windows boot. Pretty sure I just need to set my windows partition as active again and then run the startup repair

If I could get those things sorted out I would be golden... so close!

Well I can start my Laptop with nawcom disk but then when I choose to start SL which already insatalled in my HDD, I get Kernel Panic. Post #12 has got detailed description adn screen dumps. Wondering if I need to use some other boot disks to Start SL. I mean the fact is I have got successful installation but still cannot boot SL at any step.

Hmmmm odd that a USB Mouse wont even work.

Did you install with the USB mouse plugged in? I know I did and both my mouse and trackpad work ok. I dont see it on your desktop but on mine I had a .pkg file for "Trackpad support" or something like that. I didnt need it but it was put there on install (maybe because I installed with a USB Mouse plugged in)?

Are you sure the keyboard doesnt work at all? Not sure if its the same in OSX but try using Tab to navigate around to the different areas/boxes

Success:

I am going to show you how to load Snow Leopard in HP ProBook 4520s. All the specs are in my signature.

Before you start you need two things:

nawcom ModCD v0.3 (http://prasys.info/2010/10/nawcom-modcd-v0-3-is-out/)

&

Mac OSX Snow Leopard iAtkos S3 10.6.3 ver.2 (Intel only) (Google is your friend)

Burn these images in your Cd & DVD and you are ready to install Snow Leopard (SL) in your HP ProBook 4520s. To install SL you only need to memorise the following command

busratio=18 and that is all what you need to memorise.

(You may find that when you try to install SL with busratio=18, the mouse and key board may not work. In that case try busratio=17)

Insert the nawcom ModCD and boot up your laptop (obviously you need to select in BIOS for the laptop to boot from DVD drive. When the laptop boots up this is how the screen will look like.

img5051x.jpg

Take out nawcom ModCD and insert iAtkos S3 10.6.3 ver.2 DVD. Wait for 30 secs and press F5. Your screen will look like this:

img5052y.jpg

Use the arrow key to select iATKOS DVD and then type the following:

busratio=18

img50530.jpg

Your laptop will start loading verious things..screen will look something like this:

img5056l.jpg

Eventually loading will stop and you will have this screen:

img5058x.jpg

Now follow instruction on your screen:

img5059x.jpg

img5061d.jpg

You now need to pepare a partition to install SL..

Choose Disc Utility under Utilities

img5062p.jpg

Prepare your partition as shown in these pics..

img5063p.jpg

img5065c.jpg

img50660.jpg

Now you need to customize the SL installation..Click customize button as shown..

img5068j.jpg

see different options I had chosen:

img5069o.jpg

img50700.jpg

I have used Chameleon Bootloader..you can use either version.

img50710.jpg

img5072c.jpg

img5073.jpg

img50740.jpg

Once ok..SL will install in this laptop

img50760.jpg

img5077fu.jpg

img5078g.jpg

When the laptop restarts you will see this screen..

img5080k0.jpg

Press any key

img5081b.jpg

Yes..my laptop is triple boot..Win7, Ubuntu and Snow Leopard.

You choose your SL drive and must type busratio=18

And now your laptop is booting SL for the first time
