Hi, thanks for the guide. I got up to the updating from 10.6.0 to 10.6.4

4) Now open terminal and type the following commands

*sudo -s (and then enter password)
*cd /
*mv mach_kernel mach_kernel_1062
*cp ~/Desktop/mach_kernel_atom /
*mv /mach_kernel_atom mach_kernel
*chown 0:0 mach_kernel

Followed it exactly (excluding the *) but I got a kernel panic saying I have to restart the computer. Whats up with that? Is it meant to say something after each command, like success or something? I entered the commands and then it just kept repeating with bash 3.4#: over and over...

Is there a manual way of doing this instead of using terminal? Like literally moving it through folders etc.

I went into verbose mode and it says that sk.triaxis.ext.SleepEnabler(1.0.0) and "version mis-match between kernel and CPU".

EDIT: Spent an hour reading on the forums and it says I have to remove the 10.6.0 SleepEnabler before restarting and updating to 10.6.4 SleepEnabler otherwise I would get a kernel panic. All these 1005ha guides never mentioned anything about removing SleepEnabler.

When you are typing in the Terminal coding, you are not supposed to include the "*" in the code, thus your kernel panic. The sleepenabler kext didn't effect me in any way, I never had to back it up or remove it or anything. Unfortunately, you are probably going to have to reinstall 10.6.0 and redo that. There is no way for you to manually move the kernel /properly/ because of the way it is hidden in the hard drive. Make sure you put the the mach_kernel_atom file on your desktop first before doing any of that scripting. Report back with any details/problems

I found a link that worked for me (similar to this) and i have everything working including wifi and lan. Finally 100%

That guy does a very risky way of updating to 10.6.5. Plus if you read the comments, some of them are having problems with their wifi. I havent had any problems with my wifi

Yeah I know, I did it without the *, but I still got a kernel panic. The kernel panic said something about sleepenabler and that my cpu was mismatched with the kernel. I moved the mach_kernel_atom to my desktop and then opened applications > utilities > terminal and then punched in those commands. I didn't close terminal after punching in chown 0:0 mach_kernel and then restarted. After that I got a kernel panic.

Also, how do I get the ethernet to work?

The ethernet should have been installed via the "AttansicL1eEthernet.kext" in the System/library/extensions folder on the downloaded package. I have attached the kext to this post as well.

You also should close down Terminal when you are done doing all the coding, then return to the Combo Update Installer and use the "Restart" button from there.

Okay, I understand why I get kernel panic. I re-read your guide and it says to use my_hackinstaller_1.1 during 1st boot. Then I read the myhack website (it says 1.1 allows you to run sleepenabler 10.6.0-10.6.4).

I then realised I accidentally used the old my_hackinstaller 1.0 RC5 from maceee.blogspot.com and this is probably why I am getting kernel panics.

Yeah, you have to use myhackinstaller 1.1. I did it the backwards way. I had myhackinstaller 1.0 on my SD card and then i used myhackinstaller 1.1 on the system but the fact is that you still have to use myhackinstaller 1.1 for the entire system install.

Do I have to? Can't I just use my current 1.05 RC on the USB, then on the system install I use your 1.1 myhack?

Getting the usb boot was a real pain, took me 4 hours since I didn't have a mac, I had to put snow leopard on a slow pentium 4 and restore the image to my usb.

I mean, I still have myhack_installer_1.0 RC5 on my SD card, but I think as long as you use the 1.1 installer on your hard drive afterward, it should be ok. Thats what I did. Report back your results and I will put in a section of your findings in my guide

Glad everything is working. The 10.6.5 update isn't that much more effort though. Just download it, backup the 2 graphics kexts and the wifi kext, install it, put the new kernel on your desktop, run the terminal coding, restart, copy the kexts back in, pfix, restart. Done. I recommend it because 10.6.4 on my macbook pro caused some video problems and 10.6.5 updates were focused on graphics quality so its better.

Also, for the spark program. Is it spark version 3.0b9? or it doesn't really matter? And do I need to do any pfix after installing Spark or is just install and then finished?

The spark program you want to use 3.09b. And you only run pfix to get the kexts working, its basically a codeline way of using the program Kext Helper b7. So, no, you don't have to run pfix after installing spark. Pfix should only be run after restoring backed up kexts after an update (so if they released a 10.6.6 and you updated to that, etc).

As far as the battery meter, thank you for bringing that up, I forgot to add that in my tutorial, since I'm on 2gb of ram (which i recommend upgrading, because its worth it). I will post this tonight, but heres what you do:

I personally have no had to edit this file, so I really don't know a lot about it. Still post problems and such that you have and I will try to resolve it

I've read that some people experience a buggy battery meter with it only displaying up to 93% maximum, do you also suffer from this?

Nope. I don't have anything like that. My battery meter works fine

I don't remember installing a brightness kext. I can't change my brightness.

Please advise me of your netbook model, as well as the hardware in it. When you install the myhack_installer_1.1 as well as the AppleIntelGMA950.kext that should give the brightness the ability to change. Are you sure you're using the FN-F# keys to change the brightness?
