gs7fu3s9pV
I have naow installed OS X, and i have this problem: the network don't work, neither the audio does, and when I click the "About this Mac" button, it crashes and restart the interface, closing all programs, this takes about 3 secs. Also, I installed Office:mac 2004, but the programs don't start, the animation comes out, then it seems to make space for the program icon on the dock, but suddenly, it returns without the program icon. Its wird, because i have already installed OSX in another machine, and it works fine. I have searched all over the forum, but the solution to the network don't work, I can't find the .kext that the post says. theese are my system's specs: I have a gateway gt3035m, 1 gig ram, pentium d 820 (2 cores) 2.8 ghz. and a D945GCZ intel motherboard, with a 950 intel graphics accelerator
gs7fu3s9pV
Hi there, the network problems and the audio problems now are solved, but there is still the issue with Office and some other things, some minutes ago, i opened the console window, and there is a "mds crashed" message every single second, is there any way to sove it? Rammjet
The mds crash is an issue with Spotlight. The About this Mac crashing often goes along with this. I have seen 3 solutions posted: a.) Repair permissions b.) Replace the SystemUIServer.app in /System/Library/CoreServices. One way to do this is to download the 10.4.7 Combo Update (Intel) from Apple (Under Support -> Downloads). Also download Pacfist from Charlessoft. Open the 10.4.7 DMG and inside is a package. Use Pacifist to open the package. Find the SystemUIServer.app in the System -> Library -> Coreservices. Click on it and then click on Install. I would repair permissions afterward c.) Reinstall.

gs7fu3s9pV
Hi, i was just trying to make the step that you mentioned. But it just takes hours, i finally decided to press the start button 5 secs, fot it to shut down. i restarted and it wouldnt start os x. So, now the thing i know is that i have to reinstall, but i think it would be better to download the full patched 10.4.7 update and install it, would that make the problem disapear? Thanks in advance

Who knows, it might help. The only reason I suggested getting the 10.4.7 Combo update is because I knew that the SystemUIServer.app was in there. gs7fu3s9pV
"One more thing" , is there any method to install the app. that you mention, in the terminal?
Rammjet
Yes, if you have the file. It would just be a matter of copying it to the directory /System/Library/CoreServices and repairing permissions.
gs7fu3s9pV
Hi again, I have just tried, after reinstalling 2 times, but, when i try to replace it, it says it cannot do that because tre program is running, ¿what can i do to terminate that program?, to replace it
Rammjet
Drag it to the Trash, but don't empty the Trash until after you reboot. Then you can put the new one in its place.
gs7fu3s9pV
is says i cannot move it to the trash because it is open (and i didin't opened it, it must be a system prosess)
Rammjet
You can use Activity Monitor in the Applications folder. Set the processes to All Processes at the top. Then find SystemUIServer, click on it and then click on Quit Process. But I'm not sure what will happen. It might start itself up again. You might have to boot from the install DVD and use Terminal. That way it won't be running when you try to replace it.

Hey, After I don`t know how much times i reinstalled, I suddenly noticed OS X faster, and then, i checked the console, and the "mds crashed" isn`t present any more, so i think this is solved, (only for today maybe) thank you Rammjet!
