Using the ATI Sleep Display Fix?

Well, I've updated to 10.6.5 successfully and I had hoped that it would fix the know Apple issue with some displays not syncing properly at start up (flickering, intermittent static on the display etc.)

Unfortunately it hasn't, in fact its now worse!

Apple tech support had been happy to hear that the work around on the new MacPros was to use hot corners to to put the displays to sleep. When the monitors woke back up (move the mouse, etc.) the problem was gone. I found that this worked fine with my XFX 5870, but I got tired of having to drag my mouse across three flickering displays to blindly find the hot corner every time I rebooted.

There's an app out there floating around that sleeps the displays when you click on it (SleepDisplay.) What I did was write a script (Sleep Wake Display) that calls the app, then sends focus to the desktop and sends an innocuous keystroke to it (I think I used the Control key.)

I put the SleepDisplay and the Sleep Wake Display apps in my Utilities folder and added "Sleep Wake Display" to my Login items.

The result is when hitting the desktop, the displays sleep for about 3 seconds then automatically wakes up. I've included a text file with the script so it's easy to see what was done.

Try it if you like. May be helpful to those experiencing this issue.
