Hangten
Yes, stick the DSDT in the root of the drive. fakesmc There are a lot of versions from what I see at kext.com. I played with it a tiny bit but also deals with all the monitor devices on your board and in the CPU it self. I don't own a Mac but kinda figure from stopping all the errors in your log must be working thanks to the fakesmc: Credit the definition FakeSMC.kext (Copyright © 2009 Netkas) is an open-source System Management Controller (SMC) emulator for MAC OS X. Without this OS X 10.6 will not run on non-apple hardware. This is FakeSMC v2.5. Note: FakeSMC.kext is incompatible with the older “dsmos.kext” which was used in previous versions of OS X to run on non-apple hardware do not use dsmos.kext if using fakesmc.kext. Also worthy of mention is the fact that dsmos.kext is in direct violation of the Apple OS X EULA. FakeSMC is an emulator, not a decryption kext like dsmos was – therefore it does not directly violate the Apple OS X EULA as far as I can tell. Now before we build a rocket lets see if your graphics situation is getting any better... At first I used a 7300gt and yes it worked in -x(safemode) every time was always able to stick that card in to make it to the desktop while switching to other cards like my HD4850 using Leopard. Will post back comparing DSDT

Hangten
There are some differences between are X58 DSDT but for the most part see if its going to be ok until you try to boot. Do so with -x -v if your screen goes blank then your most likely booted up and its the video left to work on. DSDT Auto-Patcher thread seems maybe able to fine tune your DSDT, may want to post your untouched extracted one This DSDT edit not needed considering we have a kext inplace for that: AHCI SATA orange fix

Hangten
Try ##### and use the first thing that says ##### and so you get LegacyAppleRTC installed inplace of the rtc one from kext.com... and is the nullCPUPowermanagement.kext installed also in your Extra/Extensions? Hangten
How is your dsdt spelled in the root? Was thinking it might be case sensitive... I am aware that exact lower or uppercase is some times the issue with the com.apple.Boot.plist. Example is if one has com.apple.boot.plist see that the letter b is not B in boot... Well it matters so use Capital DSDT.aml or use specific This below goes in your com.apple.Boot.plist. As you can guess you can place it in the folder you want. One just has to direct it through the com.apple.Boot.plist <key>DSDT</key> <string>/Extra/dsdt.aml</string>

One just has to direct it through the com.apple.Boot.plist <key>DSDT</key> <string>/Extra/dsdt.aml</string> ok i tryed the above but to no avail... So.. got me thinking.. So i burnt the OS X.dmg to a DVD and used ##### and got SL running now, but.. as youve probably guessed i have no ethernet, audio, and grapahics is not configd correctly.. i added my DSDT to the Exrta folder on my HDD, and changed the Boot.plist slightly (adding <key>DSDT</key> etc) .. but it did not have much effect..except from changing the resolution.. i have experienced one BIOS reset so far.. this leads me to believe that my DSDT or kexts, permissions on mkext? was not right from the start when we were trying to install to the external HDD... on another note.. what would be a good way forward to getting some ethernet and my 8400GS running? .. i have a Marvell Yukon 88E8053 adapter onboard .. something to do with IONetworkFamily? thanks :-) UPDATE... 2hrs later... now the OS is dead.. looks like a kernel error.. (stuck at that same screenshot) after attempting to get the ethernet working... back to #####.... Hangten
Seems you need to edit the device ID "IONetworkingFamily/Contents/Plugins/AppleYukon2.kext/Contents/Info.plist" You, right click Show Package Content S/L/E folder is where it should be Oh you can use Transmac 15 day trial or MacDrive to get into your OS X install through Windows and remove the kext S/L/E but you can NOT stick kext's in it. May have to get rid of mkext to. In the E/E you can drag drop or delete kext without any repair in permissions but remove the mkext -S will get you to up also (no GUI) but you need to type the exact info to delete or repair permissions (not a terminal junky myself)
3BABY
So Seems like the network is working now, how to go about getting some proper graphics? i did notice that on initial install SL had all the correct info for the 8400GS and after running ##### all the graphics info disapeard.. the funny thing is my first install the one that died a few posts back i tryed a re-install on the existing HDD using ##### and etc and not formating the hdd.. so now were back to square one.. i have graphics.. is there any way to "extract" the graphics info to be used on install on HDD2.. the one ive now run ##### on and after killed my graphics? whats the best way to get an EFI string for this device? thanks :-)
