Simonkey75 Posted October 27, 2010 Share Posted October 27, 2010 Hi everyone I'm in the market for a new desktop Mac setup (I have a Macbook running Snow Leopard), but I have a 1 1/2 year old Gaming PC sitting around not getting much love at the moment, and was wondering if it could be converted into a usable OS X86 system. I've looked through the guides for installing on AMD, but am getting a bit confused in terms of which method would suit me - and of course whether my system would even be able to install it. Once I've got the right method, I should be fine from there - I understand about kexts, etc. So, what would your advice be for the best method of installation with the following gear: A Macbook running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 A Retail Disc of Snow Leopard 10.6.0 A 250GB USB2 Hard Drive PC System: Gigabyte MA770-UD3 Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7850+ Black Edition 2.80GHz 4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM Asus ATi EAH4870 1GB Glaciator Graphics Card Acer X233Hbd 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor Edimax EW-7711UAN 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Network Adapter I've looked at the "creating a modified install disc on a USB drive" methods, but all them seem to involve flash drives and doing it on the same computer as a previous Leopard OS X86 install. Is it possible to prepare a compatible customized install .dmg on the Macbook, put it on a partition on the 250GB drive, and install to the AMD PC from this? Any advice and pointers much appreciated!
