Broadcom BCM5788 working but...

Hi,

I finally got my Broadcom 5788 Gigabit NetXtreme LAN card to work in OS X 10.4.5 (Acer Ferrari 3200) after some patching business.

Now the issue (I know this card works for others, so I'm trying to get some help here) :

When the laptop boots I can see the leds on the NIC connector blinking, that's positive.

Once logged in I checked the network settings and I can see my Build In Ethernet connection in the list. The ball -icon in front of it is green. I manually entered the IP data and it is all accepted. It even detects when I remove and put the UTP cable in and out.

Now the strange part; I can ping my other pc's in the private network except one, my router. All other pc's or network devices reply to a ping, only the router cannot be found. So, network is OK but no internet.

But if I configure the network card in DHCP it receive an IP from my router, with everything included (IP, netmask, default gateway, DNS servers, everything.

But again, I can ping all network resources except my router on 192.168.1.1 and no internet.

I also noticed on the last tab in the network settings dialog box that the hardware address is consited of nothing but zeroes. 00:00:00:00:00:00

I don't know if this is normal?

PS: this same laptop is connected to the very same cable in dual boot with linux and windows and the network is perfectly fine in those operating systems, so the problem is with OS X.

Any idea what the issue is and how this can be resolved ?

Open a terminal and type the command ifconfig nnn ether xx:xx:xx;xx:xx:xx

Where nnn is the name of your ethernet device my one is "en0" most will be thins unless there is more than one ethernet card in your computer. Also xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx is your MAC-ID or etherID you can find this in a number of ways. It may be on a lable on yor meachin or in the documatation or the easey way if you have Linux or Windows still installed boot in to iver and look at the propatys or hardware info.

The meachin should work with out but onley if this is the onley meachin setup in this way otherwise there will be clashes.

I hope this helps Steve
