Gringo Vermelho
Install a working AppleNforceATA.kext or boot with maxmem=2048 It's this issue: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127611 Don't use the kexts from there though, they are too old. eldix
thanks! Do you know where I can find the latest AppleNforceATA.kext? doing a search on wiki.osx86project.org linked me to a post on 2006 in this website.. surely there is a revised version? will look into the maxmem thing too - will I have to use the maxmem command on each boot? sorry to be inquisitive, what is the line that made you realise it was mem or the kext? thanks again, eldix found 3 kext in http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=0#entry1252071 going to try out imk's one... Gringo Vermelho
what is the line that made you realise it was mem or the kext? The copying of large files + the kernel extensions listed in the panic. Yes you have to type maxmem=2048 every time you boot if you don't add it to kernel flags in your com.apple.Boot.plist. I can't help you with finding a working nForceATA, I've never had the pleasure of installing OS X on a motherboard with non-Intel chipset. I don't know where the files are, but they are around here somewhere.
eldix
Well changing the AppleNforceATA.kext to Imk's version did the trick. Fully started in 64 bits now, 4Gb memory, copyed 30Gb (+8000 files) through AFP on one go, while running Rember on both computers to put some stress to the machines. All went smothly
Gringo Vermelho
Good job. Please zip up the kext and attach it to your post (or add a link to where you found it) so that it can easily be found by other users with the same problem. EDIT - great, thanks. Already spreading the link. People (especially non-english speakers) seem to have trouble finding it in Verdant's guide. For anyone else with nForce chipset visiting this thread, go here and do some reading: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184224
eldix
I downloaded the kext from the Verdant post just above. Did lots of reading to finally find it! Imk's AppleNForceATA_Snow.zip ( 728.29K ) contains source code Just the release kext -> AppleNForceATA.kext.zip It's a previously released AnV's driver changed to load under 64-bit.
