mausimo
Hello, I stumbled upon this forum and feel that there is tons of great information here! A little about myself - I am a ASP C# .NET developer, i also program for the iPhone using the SDK and Objective-C and windows programs using C#, C++. Besides programming, i am interested in computer hardware and networks and have worked as a hardware technician in the past. At my work, besides ASP.NET Web Application development, i have taken on the task of setting up an internal network. So here is a little bit about my needs: In the office there is 20 computers all running OSX Leopard 10.5 - 10.6 Snow Leopard. As of now we are piggy-backing off of a network provided by and associate orgranization. We plan to setup our own internal network within our office. I plan to use Gigabit Cisco routers and switches within our internal network. I am interested in and have been looking at OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard and have attended a demo put on at the apple store. Apple makes it seem so easy and simple to setup, but i do not buy it. I am wondering how feasible it is to setup Time Machine network backups to OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard for 20 computers? Is this a efficient and worthwhile process? Will the backups be quick? or excruciating slow to the point that it is not worth it? I have read articles on OS X Server 10.5 Leopard with Time Machine network backups and they did not sound like a good idea... If anyone has experience setting up a multiple computer Time-Machine network based backup to a OS X Server please share your experiences, ideas and judgement on this idea. Thanks for your time, -Mike
