Hello all, I have limited knowledge of installing OS x86 from installing it on a Dell Vostro and an XPS, but this is for a computer that I've built.

Distros I've tried so far with pictures:

Leopard AMD 10.5.1 -

iDeneb 1.4 -

iAtkos S3 -

Reboots

iAtkos v7 -

Read that it worked with 750a chipsets, but reboots as well.

I'm currently looking at Leo4all and iPC, I'm not short on DVDs (I bought a stack just because I know how hit and miss OS x86 can be), but I'm starting to think that I'll have to add drivers in manually, which brings me to my problem: Can someone help me with the 'Still waiting for root device' problem?

Spec is in the signature!

Right dude i will give you a helping hand.. this still waiting for root device normally means that the disc won't be compatible with your system.. what are you installing too? Intel or Amd?

It's taken me a year to perfect the installing method and only just managed today to get it too work, more than happy to share my knowledge with you..

First it could just be a dodgy way you start the disk up, give this a go, little tip i have found which is so handy :(

Stick in your disk then start up immediatly press either F8 or F12 then select your DVD/CD Drive.. wait for the timer to count down! important!!!! Type in -v then press enter this should overcome the still waiting for root device if not then get in contact and i will help as i have had this problem with the ipc distro.

hope this helps :P

I appreciate the help Mr Stevee, however I found that I wasn't using the latest iDeneb, and someone with a similar (loosely used word) build had luck with it. I'll update my post when I find out what happens!

That is okay if you need any help just get in contact :) Let me know what happens!
