So I quickly wanted to share the machine with you that runs Mac OS X without problems, using Tonymac's guide with #####.

- Asus P5QC Motherboard

- 3 GHz Intel Core i5

- 4GB 799 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

- a standard SATA 1 TB HD

- NVIDIA 9800 GTX+, 512 MB RAM

- Standard DVD RW writer

- 22 inch BENQ G2220HDA screen (1920x1080)

- On Board sound

- WLAN: Sitecom WL-172 USB dongle (for which I have the driver for OS X)

This also happens to be the machine I had for quite a while actually, I never realized it could be a Hackintosh. For the fun I followed Tonymac's guide, using ##### NVIDIA. Hard drive mode was set to AHCI as instructed, the other options he mentions in the guide are things I cannot set in the BIOS. Apparently it doesn't have any effect because my machine runs as smooth as hot pie.

Installation went flawlessly (except that I got an "Installation Failed!" screen - but that is normal).

BUT!

I ran ##### FIRST - THEN I downloaded the combo upgrade to 10.6.4, and installed it. Obviously that requires another ##### run - but I thought safe is safe.

I enabled sound through ##### extra kernel modules, and has been working ever since. I had to manually set the resolution to 1920x1080 - but it was listed in the modes, I did not have to change anything for that, neither did I have to use NVEnabler.

I have full hardware acceleration and can play games on high settings (World Of Warcraft and EVE Online did not show any performance hits, in fact, FPS is higher than Windows).

The only thing I don't understand is this: Everytime I unplug something from USB, say my iPhone, my WLAN stick ceases to function. I have to unplug it and plug it back in... if you can live with that, like I can, then this is a nearly 100% non-Apple but working Mac.

Cheers

good for you man!

unfortunately my graphics card - the ATI Radeon Hd 3450 will never have kext to support it due to the special way it was made. Therefore I can't run applications like final cut. Good to see someone have so much success, though.

Can you not replace the graphic card? Or is it a laptop?
