Hi All,

I have had many attempts at my hackintosh, the best so far I am now running.

However I am still a noob and require some help.

I installed using the ASUSp6Tdeluxe CD (Chameleon) then swapping to the retail disc. Then updated using the 10.6.4 Combo package, then ran #####.

I have the XFX HD 5770 1GB, how do I get the right driver (kext) for my system, and how do I insert it, I've been playing with kext b7, and kext helper, but can't seem to make it all work. If someone could just point me in the right direction of the file and instructions, I would be very greatful.

Thanks in advance

Of course you have used "Search" and have found and read the existing threads on the ATI 5770 ? :)

Hi,

Yes I have, and although there are some threads for the 5770, not all are for the XFX, and those that are, aren't really "straight forward" in my eyes, and as far as I could see there's only a BETA driver for my card, but that's why I'm asking for help..

Doesn't matter which brand the card is.

Read this thread here (the main 5770 thread!) and follow the guys using the ATI_init kext.

It's all still beta ATM.

And if you have any more questions please post them in that thread rather than starting yet another one!

Download the graphics update from apple, install that, then run ##### and install the ATY_Init, you may need to set Graphics Enabler to No and arch=i386. This is what worked for my 5770.

I Have already run #####, should that matter?

That shouldn't matter, just run ##### again after the graphics update. The HDMI port on my card doesn't work but I'm not fussed about that, the main display works and it plays games as well as Windows 7 through steam.
