Hello,

I tried to install 10.6 using my USB MyHack hard drive installer, then using NetBookInstaller (and deleting GMA950 kext of course) it didn't want to restart well (KP just after boot or other troubles...);

Then i tried iAtkos, first time it was really creepy at restart, while booting, speakers started to crazy insane sounds! Something's wrong with that VoodooHDA maybe... Anyway, after i did another clean install of it, it worked partially :

To be short, i have QE/CI and trackpad, but no sound, battery icon only shows insane numbers, and worse, i have big USB problem, not all ports works and it seems that those does are in USB1 or i don't know, anyway it's extremely slow!

Any iAtkos S3 R61/T61 user here?

Thanks.

I could get audio (but no mute button and no mic or only internal) as well as light button (with the X61T DSDT file i found i guess), but still the USB UCHI thing (most annoying of all..), battery indicator screwed, and no sleep/no fast shutdown/restart. Maybe some video trouble too since i can't seem to play some videos on VLC... I will try another clean install, but i don't think i can't do much more on my own now...

"ioatacontroller device blocking bus" that's what i get now.. in the other case, what i get is :

kext loading now disabled.

kext unloading now disabled.

kext autounloading now disabled.

kernel requests now disabled.

after that it just wait a long time until it says reboot...

What can i do..? I tried to turn on AHCI but it doesn't work neither...

Hello! I tried many things since yesterday and here's the report:

I won't use iAtkos anymore (for 10.6 at least), i came back to my traditional myHack install + Chameleon install by last NBI and then manually try kexts (Takes hours as you can guess..);

I got good battery indicator as well as sleep (by sleepenabler i guess), but this one has a problem : The laptop will wake up by itself after something like 10 minutes, then return to sleep (since lid is closed)...

This is not really nice and could be kinda dangerous... Otherwise my USB is still screwed, i don't know where does it come from... But it clearly seems to be USB1 speed... I tried all Chameleon USBfix (with Lizard) but still same...

I'm using 32b mode, otherwise the DSDT i found seems to be disabled, anyway in both 32b & 64b i have "sick" shutdown/restart, it takes longgg time (after black screen), i see some "waiting for APPLE USB UHCI" messages...

And the power management doesn't obey : It consider i'm on battery ALL THE TIME but still don't even respect the delay i told to turn off screen : I set that for 10 minutes and after only 1 it already turns to black... Maybe it's why sleep's strange?

Hope someone who had same issues will see this post!

EDIT: I'm reading now here http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php?topic=1092.0 i'm not too sure what does he mean by "Original OS X PowerManagement.bundle for 10.6.x" Is it the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement? Cause i deleted it, it was requested to use some other kexts (i don't remember which..) :/

EDIT2: I forgot to mention that after a clean install, USB is working at full speed! I didn't notice which moment exactly i loose it... But i never had that on any other computer, even though i used OSX on many!

OK! USB ISSUE SOLVED! Apparently... With a USBFamily kext i found... The Power Management works fine after i plug my battery; if i unplug it then, it'll "know" and show that i'm not on battery anymore!

So if i start without battery, i have to plug it... Kinda annoying, i had this problem on another laptop long ago so i can't remember how i fixed it! AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement or NullCPUPowerManagement = same here, it seems!

Otherwise, either by Apple or Voodoo PS2Trackpad/Controller, i cannot get the ultranav trackpoint working, really sad :( You have to know after the clean install (before NBI) IT WORKS! but just basically (no tap/scroll)... So if anyone knows..!

I couldn't found a way to get both ultranav trackpoint and "normal" trackpad with tap/scroll. Either i have basics (button+trackpoint) or i have multi touch but ultranav 100% disabled...

For the sound, it works but as i said, things are missing, it makes speakers crack during start/shutdown, and worse of all, after sleep it becomes totally destroyed/unusable. Sure i can find better...

For Voodoo battery, anyone got the last version kext? Can't find... As it says i'm on battery while i'm not sector if i don't boot with it (battery), it's very annoying since it screw everything. So i disabled it.

Other thing about sleep : After wake up, fan start turning to it's maximum speed and never stop... Finally, still no good restart/shutdown. I'm still testing and searching to find solutions. Still hope someone answer here!

  • 4 weeks later...

i have QE/CI

What model of video card for your R61/T61? I wish is NVS140M, I'm using 10.6.4 with T61 with NVS140M (1440x900) for few month without QE/CI. Almost every hardware working fine except QE/CI.

voodooHDA should work well but you need to remove AppleHDA* from S/L/E.

Please read my others message! I fixed many things, i have the Intel GMA X3100, the Nvidia card is not and will sadly never be supported, i guess since it's been so long! Anyway i didn't get my hand on the machine for a month so now i don't even remember how i could control brightness, tried all keys but can't find back!
