sinfolmatt
So I had 4 sticks of 2gb ram, and a 2.93 ghz core 2 duo sitting around and wasnt sure what to do with it. I saw a micro atx case on sale on newegg so I looked at some gigabyte motherboards and started seeing al of these comments about works great with OSX, leapard, SL, etc. I got all excited with the idea of trying to build a hackintosh since it is something I have not done before and ended up coming to these forums and doing a lot of reading. To be honest I don't understand half of what I have been reading, but this sounded like a fun experiment so I decided to go for it. I just bought everything below for $330, which i think is going to be a pretty nice setup with what I already have. 1 x DVD BRN ASUS | DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS% - OEM 1 x CPU THERMPASTE|AS5-3.5G % - OEM 1 x FLDRV 4G|OCZ OCZUSBDSL4G R 1 x WL ADAPTER ASUS|PCE-N13 R 1 x MB GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L 775 R 1 x CASE APEX|TX-381-C RT 1 x VGA SAPPHIRE|100283-3L HD5770 1G RT 1 x PSU OCZ|OCZ700MXSP 700W RT I also have extra hdds in my current pc and don't need that much space so decided I can pull out a 750gb caviar black hdd to add to the build. So now I need to actually figure out how the hell I am going to do this. Hopefully I won't have to come back here with too many "Help! I'm a newb" questions. I plan to update this as I work through the process so hopefully by the end, anyone else using the same mobo and graphics card as me can find what they need to do in here. sinfolmatt
thanks for those links. I read through most of them yesterday before deciding if I could handle the project, but they didnt make much sense the first time around. I glanced through again right now and it's starting to come together. I will read them again tonight and probably many times before my parts arrive. Hopefully by the time the parts arrive I will have a good plan to crush this out.
