First Time Trying, So Many Ways To Fail

So I've spent the last 3 days trying and failing to get this working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far, one large hurdle has been that my mac (real mac) is a PPC running 10.4. This means I can't run anything like ##### that requires an intel mac or Leopard/Snow Leopard. Also, it's old so it doesn't burn DVD's any more. (Not even sure if it'll burn a CD, actually, but I should be able to burn ##### or something from my PC, right?) To be honest, all of the random problems I've been having are starting to blur together, so I'll just cut straight to it. Before I start tearing my hair out, let me ask the basic questions. Is this possible with my hardware? And am I doing something wrong that's really simple and easily fixable?

Hardware -

DX58SO

i7 930

ATI Radeon HD4000 series (can't figure out which one right now, almost positive it's the 4670 with 1gb DDR3 ram)

(any other info needed here?)

I've switched to AHCI, taken out my ram down to 4gb and probably a bunch of other things I've forgotten. And I specifically got this hardware because I thought it would be compatible. The closest I got was with a usb boot version of the DVD which gets to (dramatic music cue!) a blank screen. It appears to be trying to do something... then nothing (and windows starts booting). The usb appeared to be a perfect copy of the DVD (I looked before and after putting on myhack) but coming from me, that means nothing other than the file structure seemed fine.

I've looked at so many guides and tutorials by this point I think I know what I should be doing (the guide I've been using more than the others is http://andrewmajot.com/blog/2010/08/10-6-snow-leopard-pc/). There's one last thing I'm trying now with the usb stick and then I'm going to go buy some blank CD's to try with ##### or whatnot.

I hate windows. I'm a musician and I never want to use it again. But being a musician, I can't afford the laughably overpriced mac hardware. Please, help make a musicians dream of never touching windows again come true.

Much thanks

Hi!

As a musician I understand your pain :)

I wrote a little guide on my findings while trying to install 10.6.4 on this motherboard.

Hope it helps you! I got the motherboard to work perfectly. If you have any questions feel free to reply or PM me!

Greetings,

Steve
