JohnFM3
I am looking to install Snow Lepard on a Acer One 532h. I understand based on stuff I have read on this forum that depending on what copy of the OS you run, may affect what hardware will load after install, and what will require more work. I also understand that there are couple of different loader emulator options. But I cant seem to find any documentation that explains thier diffences, and possible out comes after install. All I saw was one users opinionated reference to MyHack having better hardware support for out of the box installs. John
JohnFM3
I am trying to sort out the difference between MyHack and NBI? I am guessing they are similiar and used to modify the boot code so that it will start on a NON MAC machine. John
Gringo Vermelho
All the different bootloader CDs (MyHack, Empire EFI, NetbookCD, ##### etc) use the Chameleon bootloader as a base, some are tuned for a specific range of PC hardware, some are "universal". Each of those boot CDs have their own website where you can read more about them and research which one will (possibly) work on your hardware. Chameleon documentation is here: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/board,1.0.html Background information about booting OS X on a standard PC is here: http://tgwbd.org/darwin/boot.html If you just want to jump in without doing much reading first, buy a CD-RW and a Snow Leopard retail DVD and try all of the Boot CDs until you find one that works for you. If I wanted to waist my time, I would just jump in with out researching. I am reading and trying to figure things out. An finding myself not feeling confident on the decision to make. Shoot, in you 1 post, you provided me 2 other loaders to look at. Which I didnt know of. I am her asking the questions cause I have done some research and I am looking for clarification. Gringo Vermelho
I think you would waste less time if you tried all the boot CDs and then when you find one that works, research and discover why it worked. At least you would have something to research. I don't know what's in an Acer 532h so I can't be more specific.
