Hi, im new to this website, my name is Charlie and ive wanted a mac for years but never had the money to afford one. Ive known about iATKOS and hackintosh for a while but never thought about actually installing it on my PC. About a year ago, I installed iATKOS 5.1 (I think) onto my PC, but everytime the installation completed, id reboot my PC, it would get to the page with the window with the apple trademark icon in it, and go no further. I even left my PC on for a day to see if anything would happen but to no avail.

Anyway, basically what im here to ask is that if I post my PC specifications, would you be able to tell me if I can install OSx86 or not please?

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula

CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz

Graphics: ATI Radeon 4850HD 1GB

DVD: Samsung SuperWriteMaster and Phillips BenQ Lightscribe

RAM: 6GB 800M

Keyboard: Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600

Mouse: Tesco Wired Optical Mouse

PowerSupply: Thermaltake 850w

Monitor: Technika 32" HD TV

Speakers: HDMI TV

SoundCard: SupremeFXII 7.1 (Not used)

Hard Drives: 1TB Seagate, 500MB Maxtor

Thanks for any help.

If you're not prepared to put in more effort than this, then the answer is NO. If you're prepared to learn about every part of your PC and spend maybe a week or two of your life on it, then the answer is MAYBE.

I actually have the same CPU and know that works out of the box. Check the ATI hardware sub forum to see how difficult it is to get your VGA card working. Check your motherboard manual to see what sound device you have built in then check the hardware>sound forum to see what they've done. These are your biggest hurdles and there will probably be others - LAN, keyboard, sleep etc. Still interested?

When you're booting up, do you get as far as the bootloader screen (the screen where you are asked to press f8 for options)? If you do, hit F8 and at the boot: prompt, type -v then hit enter. This will start to load up your installation of OSX and when it hangs, which it sounds like it is doing, post the details up of where it has hung.
