I was under the impression that FAT32 was os x-readable, but with no luck when booting, or when trying to manually mount. Anyone able to cast any light on this? Rammjet Posted August 1, 2006 Share Posted August 1, 2006 OSX operates on HFS+ It can read/write FAT32 It can read (sometimes) NTFS (but not write) Windows can read/write FAT 32 and NTFS With MacDrive installed, Windows can read/write HFS+ Fat 32 has a 4 GB file limit. WillyDavidK Posted August 1, 2006 Author Share Posted August 1, 2006 hm ok so I wasn't entirely wrong about FAT32, but I'm not sure why I can't get to the large empty FAT32-formatted section of my external USB drive from os x.
