lise
Hello everybody, i'm new here but not a noob and want to say first of all HELLO and thanks for your great works and help in the last few months, it helps me out a lot. So today i want tell you a story about my new Windoof-Notebook Acer Aspire 8943G better known as The Fight Goliath against David (called Acer in this case ;o))) The Standard-Install with #####-ATI, and Revision 3, Empire Efi and all the others works like a charm, starting with Boot CD, Install SL 10.6.3, restart and install update 10.6.4 – all works fine and fast (ok i'm a Macianer, so i have here more Macs in my home-office as money in my cases and that helps a lot, extern hard- and USB-Drives etc. you know what i mean), but after that the big fight starts. All works fine CPU (i7), Wireless, Bluetooth, Sound – behave Ethernet and the important One: The Radeon Mobility HD 5850 – its funny because it has the same Vendor ID like the 5750 in the new iMac, thats more as a mystic thing i thiink, anyway. I tried all the tipp's from Netkas (thanks for your great job man!) and some tipps here and nothing of them works. Ok thats sad but not the big point, because this is the following: I install only kexts for the ATI graphic source and reinstall (after some big Kernel-Panics with the framebuffers and support-files and the 3000er kexts - what in Hell has this one together with a 5850?? there are more than twothousend between - anyway ))) and after a refresh of cache and kexts and reboot oh wonder, only wireless, bluetooth, USB and CPU works, no sounds, no trackpad nothing so what is the Problem "Mr. Acer Aspire "I am so nice and dont do what i promissed"??? I'm using Mac since 20 years but never he lost working things after a install of a driver, ok he has also problems if i install more than 3 different drivers for the same thing, but which computer likes this? I dont know one. But i install ATI Driver and its not enough that this Beast of Graphics doesnt work, NO. After this also the Rest gives up - its a Mysterium for me. But maybe someone has the same machine and better Experiences than me? I've also tried a different EFI-String and a separat DSDT's, but to be honest i'm to stupid for so kryptic things and maybe this would destroy more than the ATI kexts??? So i done a New Install of SL and still wait, till someone had Success with this graphic card - hope it will be soon. So hope you enjoy my little stroy about my fight against my first PC-Notebook (but come on, 16 GB RAM!!! over 1,2 TB HD and 1 GB VRAM in a HD Radeon 5850 - a MacBook Pro with this parts will be never created by Apple and never for this price and i love it!!! Its nice and looks great, but with a working snowy cat it would look much more beautiful dont you think? ;o))))) So i hope all of you have more Success than me with this tricky "Hackintosh" (besides I love this word!) and i'll find in the future someone that has working Tipps for me. So wish you all the Best and Thanks for everyone here for Support and Help!!!!! greetings lise
willyone
I have the same machine and no luck setting up that bloody videocard, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850. Even the new bootloader (Chameleon w/ ATI Experimental) doesn't work with 10.6.5 (I think this is because the bootloader fix was created for the desktop videocards, not mobile ones). 10.6.3 works fine (even Wi-Fi) w/o hardware graphics acceleration, 10.6.5 do not want to boot up at all (with the '-v' flag it just stucks somewhere in the middle, nothing happens, but everything initializes and problem is definitely with videocard). Do not know what to do. Internal Intel GMA HD doesn't work, too. So sad.
