byovic Posted September 13, 2010 Share Posted September 13, 2010 I have this 800mhz g4 ibook, i want to do some wild stuff on here and not sure if anyone has done anything like i have planned or could point me in some kinda of direction. Dvd rom has been removed, i would like to solder in a usb hub between 4-7 ports. Only problem is to run a usb sata drive internally i may need to have the hub powered. I was thinking along the lines of draw power maybe from the firewire port seeing as they run 12v instead of just 5 like the usb ports. Planning on running a ide to compact flash adapter for leopard then having a sata drive for storage possibly, installing a media card reader in place of the old dvd drive slot. Possibly install internal blue tooth on this thing for a mouse or just use a usb dongle for a reg wireless mouse. Any suggestions or directs will be very much appreciated.
