DaniPoo
I had {censored} results in Cinebench too: 5.39 - GTX 460 With my old GTS 250 that had native drivers the score was: 32.42 - GTS 250 Works with all resolution, but something is missing with opengl. I get that too. I wonder if its a driver issue. Does anyone else but me experience freezes and crashes? However.. Other that that.. My computer runs well. I played some Wotlk the other day. Had to decrease the view distance to about medium and put the shadows at low. The it was working fine
rschultz101
deleted appleGPUpower kext my GT240 had low cinebench results,... 4.3 fps,... found out it runs underclocked and in idle .... suppose, if you have 2 monitors in DVI, it's ok. after I deleted kext, had to restart -x -f, repair permissions. no in cinebench I get 23fps . also looking for a faster card for my son, playing wow,... right now, rule of thumb,... what works in windows, , you need 2x as fast a card for osx. and since crossfire and sli don't work ( correct me if I'am wrong), that makes it even harder. hmm, and the ATI cards suppose to bring opencl to the table...coreimage

VultUx
Where do I find that file? Inside Extra folder. If you dont have the file SMBIOS.PLIST you need to create one with some information. Here my for example: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>IM111.88Z.0034.B00.0910301727</string> <key>SMbiosdate</key> <string>11/06/2009</string> <key>SMboardmanufacturer</key> <string>Apple Computer, Inc.</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F2268DAE</string> <key>SMmanufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>MacPro</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacPro5,1</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>W88033AKY51</string> <key>SMsystemversion</key> <string>1.0</string> </dict> </plist> @elpibe10 THANK YOU FOR THE TIP! Alternatively, you can download ##### and let it do the job for you if you prefer not manually edit the file yourself : http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8155

Oli-uk
That sounds really good. But can you be more specific: flying how much? Do you guys think that we can finally say the GTX 460 is fully supported or there's still some way to go? I´m wondering if this is the time to buy the GTX 460. jeopardise
how about OpenCL? Have you test it yet? I heard it isn't supported yet for Fermi
DaniPoo
OpenCL does not seem to work yet. Buy OpenGL does I have been playing WOW WOTLK today with everything except multisampling on max. I put multisampling on x4. And I mostly have over 60fps! if i am going to Silvermoon then I get over a 100fps. Thats pretty nice I think Lets hope that they will release an even better driver soon! "VRAM total: 0 MB" does not sounds too good to me :S I think is just cosmetic, but if you want the right information, you could use the ANVAL 5.0.5 boot loader with GraphicsEnabled=Yes (at the moment was removed, but I think Anval you put the files available again when he finish). ANVAL Boot Loader @rschultz101 - is slower than my old GTS with the same CPU clock (3.80 Ghz), take a look at the third position, GTS 250 had 32.42 points, other thing, is just my opinion, but GTX 460 is a top graphic card with alot more resources than a GTS 250, I expected at least 2x faster than GTS 250. rschultz101
@vultu by the seat of your pants, is your gtx460 any faster than your gts250 in games ?! benchmarks, do not always reflect that. my GT240 on 3.5ghz quad does 27fps (GT240 fanless, no OC) unless the games actually do play faster / usable , there is no point for me, to gain 3fps in a benchmark.... I'll be happy with my gt240, but my son plays games, wow is choppy , team fortress2 is unplayable even on lower rez. wow on 1080p others: opencl,.... you got only CPU , that's default. think the ATI guys, have openCL,.... handbrake does not use it, but Starfire does. VultUx
@vultu by the seat of your pants, is your gtx460 any faster than your gts250 in games ?! I will test for you, but my old GTS 250 was pretty fast with Team Fortress and similar games from Valve, see attached screen Half Life 1 at 1900x1200 with everything in maximum 60 FPS. I dont have Team Fortress to test, but I tested again with Half Life 2 Episode one (same engine than TF2), 60 FPS at 2560x1600, see screenshot below with FPS in upper right corner. I'm not too interested in getting this card if I have to lower my WoW settings :/ I set the slider all the way to Ultra. Set Shader Quality and Liquid Detail to Low. Set Sunshafts to Disabled. Is appears stable. I played around for 15 minutes now with no crash.
