Note: My current VGA (HD 3200 256M) works fine with resolution 1920x1080x32, but only the basic features of Mac OS X. Does not display pictures in the viewer. Does not show videos. Does not display even the cells of Numbers. VLC does not display video, only audio. Quick runs .mp4, video and audio. Audio ok but video slow. ... Question: With the HD 5450, will have these features?

get EFI studio and make a EFI string for your GFX card, your ID is 96101002

then use OSX86tools to enable GL and you should have QE/CI

restart and boot with -v -f

now it should work

from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...00+snow+leopard

the 3200 is pretty much a 2400 as said various places in the fourms

6- extract your gfx bios by gpuz under windows

7-paste this bios on extra folder after naming it to 1002_xxxx.rom replace xxxx with your device id

To be more specific, I'm worried about this step of the process. Is the system profiler exact enough?

Thank you very much sirbow2.

I will carefully execute their tips.

But I did not understand properly the first step (1).

How do I do?: get EFI studio and make a EFI string for your GFX card, your ID is 96101002.

nerver mind ive read some more, you cant get support for HD 3200 unless you downgrade to 10.5

ill help you get your HD 5450 going though.

install GFX 1.0 from software update if you haven't already.

down laod THIS file and put the boot file from the archive to the root of your chameleon drive.

remove any previous GFX injectors, EX. aty_init

then reboot

on boot type exactly: AtiFb=

after the = try any of the following framebuffers till one works, i'd try Uakari or Vervet first

Alopias

Alouatta

Baboon

Cardinal

Caretta

Colobus

Douc

Eulemur

Flicker

Galago

Gliff

Hoolock

Hypoprion

Iago

Kakapo

Kipunji

Lamna

Langur

Megalodon

Motmot

Peregrine

Quail

Raven

Shrike

Sphyrna

Triakis

Uakari

Vervet

Zonalis

So EX. AtiFb=Uakari or AtiFb=Vervet

THE AtiFb= COMMAND IS CASE SENSITIVE

unless you really mess something up it should work ;)

I got my computer up and running yesterday using ##### ATI 5xxx-3, and ##### 2.2.2. I used a kext for the ethernet, and everything works perfect, except the fact that I'm using my GPU in 32bit mode. Since I already have the new Graphics 1.0 update installed, do I run any risk trying to do this?

And I see that if I want to use Vervet, as I'm currently using now, I unzip that, and replace the boot file. But where am I suppose to be getting the .rom file for this installation? I apologize for being so naive.

Hey there DR Mac,

Since you have basically the same system as I do, motherboard, processor, etc. check out my extra folder and boot file from this setup. Using those you should be fine.

Replace boot file in /Volumes

Put the 1002_68b8.rom in /Extra/

Add UseAtiRom to your boot.plist like explained in this thread.

Hey flipflp,

Thank you so much, kind sir, for such a wonderful gesture! I'm so excited to get home and try this out now! One last question that I have, do I need to remove Ati_Init file or can that stay? And after adding all of these files, I should use Kext Utility to repair permissions before rebooting, correct?
