SilverTroll
Hello all, This is my first post and yes, like many others before me I bet, I'm asking for help and advice. First of all my System Spec I guess: Core2Duo E6750 ASUS P5N32-E Sli Plus AI Lifestyle motherboard 650i/570 chipset 4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 DVD+/- Re Writer as IDE Primary Master I have spare 250GB hard drive on which I would like to install (Snow)Leopard and also a 320GB drive on which Windows 7 64bit is currently installed (will be disconnected during OSX installation) I would like to run Snow Leopard on my current PC. I have read around and got the idea that I need to install Leopard first because it makes life easier on the Snow install for various reasons. I have tried to install Leopard but it's all gone wrong. It appeared to work but took a LONG time (2 hours) to install and boot I get the grey apple boot screen but after a while what looks like a grey "Stop Sign" appears (an O with a diagonal slash) I started with an iDeneb 10.5.6 image which I burned to DVD. The install appeared to go fine though it took more than 2 hours to complete the installation. On reboot I got the above Stop Sign. So I reinstalled with some settings I realised I'd missed but got the same thing and now When I try to boot of the DVD I get the Stop Sign there too (presume the disk has a read error now). I also have iPhone 16gb which I gather could be used to install from I also have a 40gb laptop drive on a USB adapter which could also be used to install from (but I don't know how to prepare the USB devices as bootable) I have a Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD DMG image (and some DL DVDs which could be used if needed). Can anyone help me on my way to getting a working Snow Leopard installation. There's lots of info here but also kind of too much and many old threads and I feel a little overloaded by it all. 3.14r2
May I assume that you have read some guides? The above mentioned "stop sign" means that something is obviously is going wrong. To see what is precisely happening, use -v boot flag. Then use the forum search to fix the problem if possible...
