About the Snow Leopard Licence

So, lets say I buy a snow leopard licence to use on my PC. ( I'm plaining on following this tutorial http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954 ) Does the CD come with a serial or is it activated when its installed? Can you update your hackintosh, if you buy a legit copy? Are their ways to update it if you don't have a legit copy?

If you buy retail snow leopard and install it, everything goes fine. Lets say you want to reinstall it later and start fresh, do you have to buy another copy? What if the install fails catastrophically and I wasted the money on snow leopard?

thanks for the headsup in advance.

As far as I know, you broke the licence if you install mac os X on an non-apple computer.

But if you do that, on an 100% compatible PC, you can some time later reinstall it using the same retail DVD without buying a new DVD or licence.

about the updates, i'm nor sure at 100% but i think with ##### + ##### you could have the updates working. Again: i'm not sure about that..

hope it helps

OS X comes with no activation or serial of any kind, so all the pain windows has with licensing you will never experience with OS X. (at least for now, who knows about the future)

As for installing multiple times, you can install it as many times as you want on the same machine.

And as for the legality, installing OS X on a pc is legal according the the license agreement. But, I don't think anyone will be knocking on your door waiting to arrest you if you do so.

Yes you can update, provided you PC is compatible, etc.....

And Snow Leopard is only $30, so if it doesn't work out you haven't wasted that much money.
