I have a copy of Iatkos 7, which I tried to install just using default setting, but when chameleon loaded, the apple symbol came up, and the spinning ticker, and then I was presented with a blue/grey screen with LOUD disco music blaring out! Then when I tried customising the install I realised that all of my drivers were not set to install, so I reinstalled with the custom settings. However, when it rebooted, the bootup hung at the grey mac screen, with the circle ticker still going, but a small "no entry" style symbol superposed on the mac symbol. So clearly this custom install did not work!

Any advice?

Thanks for the help so far Alessandro17!

Well, honestly I don't see any reason why your HP shouldn't work with OS X.

Have you chosen a driver for your GMA 950? That looks like the main problem.

Obviously you managed to get sound working B) (don't worry about volume, you'll be able to adjust it later)

My suggestion would be using a Snow Leopard distribution, either Hazard or iAtkos S3 v2.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a guide specific for your notebook, but really it shouldn't be too difficult.

An Italian wrote a guide for HP dv7 and dv6, but he says it can be adapted to other HP Pavilion notebooks:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=223332&hl=

(starting from: "Adattare la guida ai PC che non sono nè HP dv6 nè HP dv7")

See if you can get a decent translation on-line, else I'll try to help you with the translation.

thanks for the help so far! I got the OS running "of sorts". The wireless card, mouse, webcam and sound card were not properly recognised, and some programs did not open, but at least i managed to boot the OS....ish. I'm going ot give it another crack when I have repartitioned my Hard drive i think. Thanks for the guide, that looks very useful! It is a pity that we don't call blank CDs or DVDs "Virgin" CDs or DVDs  or perhaps that was just the dodgy google chrome translator? :)

Thanks for all of your help, and I shall get back to you when I have tried again!

He says indeed a "virgin" DVD :D But google should translate it as "blank" in English

Thanks for all of your help, and I shall get back to you when I have tried again!
