Ash X Posted August 23, 2010 Share Posted August 23, 2010 Okay, I want to install snow leopard onto an empty partition on a disk which already contains two NTFS partitions. I don't want to lose the data on either NTFS partition, but i don't mind moving them, or doing any other non-destructive operations. Any guides or posts to put on the right track? Ash X Posted August 23, 2010 Author Share Posted August 23, 2010 Okay, so I gather the only way to install a vanilla snow leopard on a mbr-partitioned disk is to mount the image onto one of my ntfs partitions via disk utility, then convert the image to read and write. Unmount the DVD snow leopard and mount the writeable .dmg, and navigate to "Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages" and replace "OSinstall.mpkg" with a modified version to enable installation to non-GUID disks. Then proceed with the installation as per normal. Phew! I'll give it a bash and hopefully it behaves itself. A quick question: Can you mount images which are on NTFS partitions?
