gulfphoto
Hey there insanelymac, I have a Compaq Presario SR5130NX that's starting to get really long in the tooth, and has bad RAM. I figured since I need to replace some parts anyway, why not try and get a Hackintosh out of the deal? And I guess I'm also asking, can the parts I already have work with osx86. Here's the specs, with what I'm planning on replacing parts with in bold: Asus M2N68-LA mobo, aka Ivy-GL6 AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ / Brisbane (2GhZ) Generic 200gb SATA hard drive Generic (?) 16x DVD/RW Lightscribe drive - lightscribe functionality isn't important ALC 888 onboard audio Sparkle GeForce 9400GT, as seen in another thread New 4GB of RAM, common sense tells me I should get something from "Mac Memory" section on Newegg but I'm not sure That's about what I'm looking for for performance, but will it run OSX? Thanks in advance, Mark

Thanks in advance, Mark I don't think you can use an AMD processor in a hackintosh.
gulfphoto
I don't think you can use an AMD processor in a hackintosh. There are several versions that can, Kalyway immediately comes to mind.

Thanks in advance, Mark There is nothing special about mac memory except the price. You might also want to make sure your NIC is supported by osx and buy one if it isn't. As others have said AMD has a bit more trouble on osx, make sure you get a compatible version.
